Job Description
York Building Products is looking for a Sales Support Specialist in our Cecil County, MD location.
York Building Products is one of the nation’s largest producers of concrete masonry units, manufacturing architectural masonry, structural retaining walls and residential landscape walls. In addition, we produce crushed stone, sand and gravel through our quarries in PA and MD, and produce concrete pavers through our NewLine Hardscapes division and colored mortar through our Workrite
Colored Cements division.
Position Overview: This position is the primary point of contact for field Territory Managers to initiate and complete administrative tasks associated with their territory management responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide quality service to YBP internal and external customers in all assigned tasks.
Learn and process testing of aggregate materials. Record data and distribute to territory managers, production managers, and customers as needed. Stay abreast of market testing needed to be in compliance of state and local industry standards and regulations.
Process quotes on behalf of the territory managers. Ensure accurate and timely entry of quotes and delivery of quotes to customers. Ensure all quoted pricing remain within established guidelines. Work with transportation to ensure proper freight rates and delivery methods. Once a quote is accepted, convert to an order in the appropriate shipping facility.
Primary contact for Territory Managers for assistance in their territory management duties.
Activities include but not be limited to:
Weekly testing of all materials
Update data of results and distribute
Establish and maintain freight data working with transportation
Process quotes, change to orders
Help with annual price increase data entry
Email and fax customers product/sales information as needed
Work closely with customer service reps and fill in for vacation as needed
Trade shows – help man booths and attend trade shows as needed
Obtain industry QC certifications
Work with Transportation Manager and Customer Service Representatives to aid in overall trucking needs to establish prior truck fleet demands.
Position is established as a purpose to lead to Junior Sales and eventually territory manager role in the future
Qualifications and Position requirements:
Post High School education preferred, Minimum of 2 years related sales experience required.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities desired: o Detail oriented o Work well under pressure o Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Word and Excel o Ability to multi-task o Develop and foster internal and external relationships o Strong listening and retention skills o Initiative to follow-up on pending issues and project quotes o Effective oral, written, and telephone skills o Ability to work in plants gathering samples, transporting to the lab and running lab equipment; some lifting up to 50 lbs o Must possess a valid Driver’s License
Working Environment: o Full time position, some overtime likely o Some Saturday seasonal fill in hours for Customer Service Representatives o Majority of work in office/scale house/lab setting
