EDFacts Data Collection Tools
States and school districts submit data to EDFacts
using one of the following three vehicles:
 The Education Data Exchange Network (EDEN) EDEN
Submission System (ESS)
 The EDFacts Metadata and Process System (EMAPS)
 Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC)
EDFacts Data Collection Tools
 The EDEN Submission System (ESS)
 Collects a core set of key, K–12 performance data
from State Education Agencies (SEAs) annually.
 State education agencies provide EDFacts data
annually on approximately 180 data groups to
the Department using the EDEN Submission
System (ESS).

EDFacts Data Collection Tools
 The EDEN Submission System (ESS)
 The ESS is an electronic system that facilitates the
efficient and timely transmission of data from
state education agencies to the Department.
 Data submitted through the ESS are provided to
meet federally mandated program data reporting
requirements.
EDFacts Data Collection Tools
 The EDFacts Metadata and Process System
(EMAPS)
 An online collection tool that collects
supplementary metadata and information from
State Education Agencies (SEAs) as needed.
 EMAPS is intended to obtain state data that
supplement, not duplicate, data transmitted
through the ESS.
EDFacts Data Collection Tools
 Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC)
 An online survey of Local Education Agencies
(LEAs)
 Collections transmitted through this online
survey are intended to obtain data that
supplement, not duplicate, data transmitted
through the ESS.
Federal Reporting Stats
