Instructions

1.

Look at the large clock face on the IWB.

2.

Identify the different features of a clock face; e.g. numbers 1 to 12, hands, round shape, etc.

3.

Recite the numbers from 1 to 12.

4.

Open the iLearn Maths Toolbox activity.

5.

Pupils are to drag the numbers back to their place in the correct order.

6.

Give out Activity Sheet 1.1a and invite pupils to work in pairs and to fill in the missing numbers on the clock faces. As a follow-up activity, pupils can also work out Activity Sheet

1.1b.

2.

In groups, match the clocktime with the matching activity using Resource Cards 1.3.

Put the activities in order of time, from morning till night.

On Activity Sheet 1.3, write the clocktime and draw an activity you usually do at that time.

Instructions

1.

Introduce the lesson with the song about the ‘Days of the Week’ on Youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=BATdBYIXF1Q and the pupils participate alongside.

2.

Show Resources 1.5 - flashcards of ‘Days of the Week’.

3.

Discuss the activities you do each day of the week, e.g. from Monday to Friday I go to school, on Saturday and Sunday I wake up late, on Sunday I go to grandma’s.

4.

In groups, put the days of the week in order, using the provided cards.

5.

Take out Activity Sheet 1.5 and match the missing day of the week with the correct empty sock.

Take it in turns to measure the length of each rod using the rulers.

Record the length of each rod on the grid found on Activity Sheet 3.1.

Re-write the lengths in order starting from the shorter to the longer rod.

Find the total lengths of various rods as shown on Activity Sheet 3.1.
