This document provides an overview of exchange programmes in English and the application procedure to Oulu UAS’ School of Media and Performing Arts / Music, for the academic year 2014-2015: Autumn 2014 (September - December 2014) N.B.! Studies in autumn begin with an orientation day on 28 and 29 August and last until 20 December 2014. Spring 2015 (January - May 2015) N.B.! Studies in spring begin with an orientation day on 7 January 2015. Study possibilities in English consist of exchange programmes, including courses and partly also project opportunities. Please note that studies can be chosen only as indicated, for otherwise there will be timetable conflicts etc.! Depending on the applicant's choice, the exchange porgramme consists of studies with instruments/voice according to genre, classical, jazz/pop etc. Additional courses (N.B.! Independent implementation) can be chosen and applied to as well. Application Procedure (1) Before applying, check whether you meet the following requirements: • Suitable study background and a minimum of 1 1/2 years' studies at your home university. • Sufficient English language skills, at least B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/en/resources/european-language-levels-cefr (2) Before applying, contact the international coordinator of your home university to get an approval for your study/practical training abroad period at Oulu UAS. (3) Before applying, ask your international coordinator of your home univeristy to send a nomination message by e-mail to the contact person mentioned above. The message must include your full name, e-mail address and information for which academic year/term you have been nominated. (4) Send your application during the application period! Applications received beyond the deadlines won't be accepted! The application period for exchange students in the autumn term and academic year is 1 April - 31 May, and for the spring term 15 September - 31 October. (6) Admission decisions will be sent to applicants usually within two weeks after the application deadline (31 May / 31 October). Y00022E Finnish Survival Course The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with the Finnish culture and to provide them with the basics of Finnish language. The study module can consist of studies taken at a university or a foreign educational establishment or they can be significant music activity that has taken place outside the university of applied sciences. M2138MS Music Production Students develop themselves as musicians, either alone or in a high quality classical or pop-jazz music production implemented together with other students. N.N. Description and Evaluation of a Business Idea Students are able to identify a potential business idea and can create a business model in the field of music. Students can use business planning as well as related tools to identify and take advantage of support networks relevant in establishing a business in the Finnish context. Students are able to identify the requirements of entrepreneurship and identify their strengths and areas of development.
