The first Canada China International Film Festival (CCIFF) will be held this upcoming September in the city of Montreal, the official sister city of Shanghai. This event aims to merge Chinese and Canadian film resources and associated technology, to build a platform that fosters better communication and cooperation. Through CCIFF, the hope is to be able to work together to build a new future for the Canadian and Chinese film industry. Under the influence of trending professional and avant­garde styles, event will be hosted by Canada China Art­Tech and has gained official approval and support from both Canadian and Chinese governments. The film festival is recognized as one of the official activities of 2015 ­ 2016: The Year of People­to­People and Cultural Exchanges between Canada and China . In addition, the China Canada International Film Festival has also gained support letters from official establishments including: the Administration of Film of State, the Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of China, and Telefilm Canada. The first Canada China International Film Festival is dedicated to promote cultural exchanges between China and Canada. As one of the main activities of the cultural exchange year between China and Canada, CCIFF have received many positive feedback from Canadian as well as Chinese film community. During this year’s Canada China International Film Festival, there will be seven key segments. In addition to this, in honor of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, the Canada China International Film Festival Committee , the China Film Archive and the National Film Board will launch a new component, Classic Movie Review , to pay homage the two countries’ respective classic movies. During the Shanghai pre­launch event, we disclose further details regarding the organization’s main highlights such as the Entertainment Technology Summit and Women’s Voice in Film and Television. The Canada China Co­Production Project Pitch will be Canada China International Film Festival’s climatic event, since it has received numerous support and accolade from governments and industry professionals. This event will select twenty outstanding projects from the pool of submitted projects, aiming promote collaboration and communication platform among professionals in China and Canada. From these twenty projects, the judges will pick out best project, which will have a chance to take their project to the next level with the signature of collaborative contracts at the closing ceremony. The representatives from both countries will have an opportunity during the project pitch event to discuss amending policies in the film and television industry. Another key highlight of the festival is the Entertainment Technology Summit. This event has attract the attention of many leaders in the film and technology industry. The City of Montreal brought together 50 professional studios, over 30 world­renowned animation and special effects production companies , over 60 game production companies, and 500 audio­visual products companies. Disney Animation Studios, the creator of the recent box hit movie Zootopia and many other loved animation films, such as Frozen and The Incredibles , will also be attending the summit. At the Entertainment Technology Summit, attendees will have a first­hand experience of the rapidly developing Canadian entertainment technology industry and learn the paradigm shift that technology has brought on cultural industry.
