Language Course
1. General information
Your visa application can only be accepted if the required documents are submitted according
to our regulations. Each submitted document in original has to be accompanied by its two
copies. Documents in foreign languages have to be provided with a certified translation
into German.
Please note that the application must be lodged in person. An application by e-mail or post is
not possible.
The German Missions in Krakow, Wrocław, Gdańsk and Opole do not issue visas and do not
provide any information on this subject. The visa section of the German Embassy in Warsaw is in charge of all visas in Poland.
Important information:
It has to be stated clearly what kind of a language course is to be attended, i.e. whether it accompanies planned studies in Germany or it stands individually as an intensive language
course that is not supposed to prepare for subsequent studies.
In the former case the applicant does not have to leave Germany between the end of the language course and the beginning of their studies (if the application is lodged accordingly).
In the latter case an application is possible only for a language course as defined by the Aliens
Law. This generally means that the course has to offer classes every day with at least 18 hours
per week. Evening and weekend classes only do not suffice. The language course should aim
at the student’s acquiring profound knowledge of the German language; the course duration
must be limited. Knowledge of German prior to the course is not imperative.
2. Fees
The fee for processing the visa application is €60,00. This amount has to be paid in Polish
Zloty. This is a processing fee. Thus, a refund in case of withdrawal of the application or upon denial is not possible. Foreigners who are granted a scholarship by public institutions
(Awardees: DAAD, ERASMUS) are exempt from the fee.
3. Process
Processing visa usually takes at least four weeks. As soon as a decision has been made, the
applicant is immediately contacted by our Embassy. In order to avoid unnecessary delays,
applicants are kindly asked not to make any enquiries about the current status of their
application.
