APPLICATION
The Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator™ (EBI)
LifeSafety Manager™ is a fully listed fire and security system
that runs the Honeywell LifeSafety Manager application
software. It consists of a complete network of workstations,
peripherals, and TCP/IP addressable LAN network
components that are listed for the full range of life safety
applications, including UL864 UOJZ fire alarm and
UL 294/1076 security/access control and UL2017 critical
process applications. The components have been specially
designed and hardened to meet the rigorous quality level
required by these standards.
The workstation consists of a high reliability personal
computer platform enclosed in a sturdy W7063 housing
assembly that is securely mounted to the building structure.
All power and data wiring connections are fully enclosed to
prevent tampering and inadvertent disconnection. Vital PC
functions are monitored by special circuits to insure
operational integrity at all times. The communications power
of the PC is augmented with network interface cards for LAN
connectivity, as well as additional listed RS-232/RS-485 ports
for direct access to fire, security and HVAC controller buses.
The system supports the full range of NFPA 72 signaling line
circuit communication styles, up to and including Style 7
redundant connections.
The powerful W7064 Server Housing Assembly includes a
UL 864 listed Dell® PC with dual XEON® processors, ultrareliable RAID hard drive technology, and built-in redundant
power supplies. This server is the heart of any system that
requires superior performance for data intensive multi-tasking
including building control, life safety, and monitoring
applications.
The EBI system can be matched to the unique requirements
of a facility by utilizing a wide variety of Honeywell listed
controllers and network components.
Using an extensive array of graphic and database
management applications, the EBI can monitor and control
alarm notification points from Honeywell XLS3000, XLS140,
XLS1000/200 and DeltaNet™ FS90 fire alarm control panels,
as well as customized interfaces to existing equipment in
retrofit applications. These panels are also fully listed for
smoke control and security applications.
The EBI security functionality is further enhanced by state of
the art features such as proximity card access, photo ID
creation, database management, audio/video communication
and AES certified encryption of TCP/IP network
communication.

SPECIFICATIONS
The EBI workstations and controllers can be connected via
industry standard IEEE 802.3 Ethernet configuration, using
either unshielded twisted pair (UTP) copper or fiber optic (FO)
cables. Network switches are available for optimized LAN
architectures. UL864 UOJZ/1076 listed routers are available
to interface Ethernet and telecommunication paths into one
seamless network. LAN functionality is enhanced with a wide
variety of listed device terminal servers, RS-232/RS-485
converters, fiber optic converters and transient protection
devices. These network components can be conveniently
mounted on the Honeywell Communications Panel, and
protected in a standard Honeywell ring cabinet.
Electrical Ratings: 120 Vac, 60 Hz.
NOTE: Some devices require a low voltage DC power
source. This is provided either via a separate power
supply, or auxiliary power from a fire alarm control
panel. NFPA 72 and NEC code requirements for
back-up power and continuity must be followed.

The Honeywell Personal Computers, Monitors and Printers
provide a compact system for computing functions, monitoring
and printing. These components have been factory tested for
compatibility with Honeywell control systems and applications
software. When ordered by Honeywell part number, these
components are completely UL listed for fire and security
applications (See Fig. 1).
Temperature Ratings: 32° F to 120° F (0° C to 49° C).
Humidity Ratings: 5 to 93% RH, non-condensing.
Mounting: Listing requires that equipment be securely
mounted in a listed enclosure.

Fire/Security Alarm
EBI Server
The server included with the W7064A Server Housing
Assembly is a Honeywell 14507789 XEON PC based on the
reliable Dell redundant technology.
EBI Workstations
The primary EBI operator workstation is the Honeywell
14507788 Pentium IV processor, enclosed in the W7063B
housing assembly. The workstation uses a high resolution
monitor, keyboard and mouse. Internal expansion slots are
used for network interface cards and additional RS-232
peripheral ports. The Distributed Server Architecture option
enables multiple EBI servers to share point data, alarms,
messages and history without the need for duplicate
configuration on any server. DSA provides global access to
point parameter data on all servers in the system. Each server
provides automatic dynamic caching of remote data for all of
its clients, so that clients access their local server for all data.
Workstation Peripheral Devices
In listed fire and security applications, the Honeywell
14507540 dot matrix alarm printers are used. They provide
high-speed reporting of received alarms. Any UL ITE listed
printer can be used for ancillary reporting purposes, or for
more specific functions such as ID badge creation.
LAN Components and Wiring
The EBI LifeSafety Manager utilizes an industry standard
Ethernet LAN as the backbone communication link for system
components. These components have been hardened and
specifically listed for demanding life safety functions. Device
Terminal Servers are used to convert RS-232/RS-485 data
communications from the fire, security and HVAC controllers
to TCP/IP LAN connections. LAN hubs and switches are used
to concentrate the data and communicate with workstations at
data rates of up to 1000 Mbs. Routers are used on the LAN to
facilitate a change in transmission media as well as T1
telephone lines. Routers also provide an interface to a wide
area network. Systems communication links can be
configured with standard UTP copper or fiber optic cables.
Routers provide isolation between listed and non-listed LAN
segments, allowing the annunciation of fire and security
events from ITE listed workstations.
Controllers can also be connected directly to an EBI
workstation via RS-232 ports. RS-232/RS-485 converters
make these ports compatible with RS-485 signals from
controllers as far as 3277 ft (999 m) from the controller. All of
the network components have been UL listed to stringent
NFPA 72 and UL864 ninth edition UOJZ fire alarm standards,
including environmental operating limits and reliability.
The EBI LifeSafety Manager is fully compatible with the
Honeywell XLS1000, XLS3000 and XLS140 life safety and
security systems, DeltaNet FS90 fire and security panels, and
the XLS LAN Interface, offering a complete range of Local,
Remote, Proprietary and Central Station modes of operation.
XLS1000 is a state-of-the-art modular fire and security control
panel that can be scaled from a single stand-alone panel, up
to a 64 node system with 160,000 points. Each panel or
connection can function in a stand-alone mode for fail safe
operation in the event of an interruption in the network
communication link. Fail safe operation extends down to the
intelligent addressable signaling line loops that connect up to
250 devices/loop to the panel. XLS1000 supports a wide
range of fire and security options including eight-channel
digital audio with distributed amplifiers for emergency
communication, fiber optic communications, remote text and
graphic annunciators and suppression system control. Threesecond alarm response time is provided for any sized
network.
The Honeywell and XLS140 and XLS3000 are state-of-the-art
fire alarm control panels that are scaleable for the full range of
facility sizes. Features include support for traditional analog
addressable intelligent devices as well as the new
FlashScan® and Eclipse intelligent device protocols. These
panels are also fully compatible with the XLS-DVC-EM multichannel paging and fire fighter telephone Audio Command
Center.
The EBI LifeSafety Manager is also fully compatible with the
DeltaNet FS90 Fire and Security system that has been the
industry standard for many years, with over 50,000 controllers
operating in over 100 countries around the world. FS90
provides a full range of intelligent analog addressable fire
alarm sensors and control modules including the TC844A
Filtrex harsh environment smoke detector and the Pinnacle
ultra-sensitive smoke detector. Additional FS90 features
include the easy service and support with out-of-the box
startup/default configuration without PC data file downloads,
secure/access control and remote printer/display fire
command center.
The 14507532 F&S Bus Interface allows XLS1000 panels to
communicate with the central via the FS90 RS-485 bus. The
320004871 XLS LAN Interface is used to connect the
XLS1000 network directly to an Ethernet LAN.
Security and Access Control
The EBI is UL864 UOJZ listed with a wide range of function
specific controllers to provide seamless integration and
coordination of fire, security and HVAC monitoring and control
functions. This allows the facility to fully utilize the capability of
the system for such cross functional events as the control of
smoke migration during a fire alarm, using security functions
for facility emergency egress, as well as normal day-to-day
occupant safety and comfort control.
In addition to the UL 294 access control and UL 1076
proprietary burglar alarm unit control functionality available in
the fire alarm controllers, the EBI LifeSafety Manager offers a
choice of many security controller technologies. The
Honeywell I9000 offers a high level of physical security using
a distributed architecture of intrusion detection, door control
and security alarm devices, including a sophisticated ATM/
vault detection sensor. Scalable card access is available in a
wide range of technologies including magnetic stripe,
Wiegand®, proximity, bar code, RF and biometric. Systems
can be sized for up to 4,000 readers and 65,000 cards using
NexWatch™ card access/security controllers. Additional
security functionality is available through the PCSC Ultimate
and µLPM product families. Ancillary listed video cameras and
full color laser printers are available for creating photo ID
badges. The EBI also supports CCTV control and display for
security functions.

HVAC and Smoke Control
Complete life safety system control is provided through
integration with heating, ventilation and air conditioning
controllers to implement smoke management and control
strategies. The same Honeywell family of Excel controllers
used for temperature and comfort control can be used as part
of the automated emergency response system when
necessary. These include the Excel 50, 80, 100, 500, 600 and
R7044 Series of direct digital controls (DDC). Functionality
can be extended to third party controllers for many of the other
leading manufacturers using the Honeywell O-Link and E-link.
Enclosures and Mounting
Properly listed enclosures that are securely mounted are
required for all equipment. Honeywell offers a wide range of
enclosures and mounting accessories. Fire, security and
HVAC controllers are normally mounted and housed in
product specific enclosures. The Honeywell standard series of
one-half and full-size ring cabinets are used for LAN and
HVAC equipment. The Honeywell 14006090-55515X
Communications Panel proves a convenient means for
mounting and protecting LAN and interface components.
