Board Members Needed for The SKILLS Organization

Dear Community Member,
The SKILLS Organization is currently seeking Board Members that are great community and or business leader for the organization. Our mission is to “Create a partnership among parents, schools, businesses, government, and the community to support programs that give every child the opportunity to develop the SKILLS necessary for living and learning successfully”
The SKILLS Organization has been providing afterschool programs to the community in the City of Whittier and surrounding area for 30 years. The SKILLS Organization exists to create better lives for all kids by promoting the development of character skills throughout the community, resulting in clean, sober, and successful living. We envision a headquartered organization of community members that will become a self-­‐supporting, respected, national model. We seek Talent and Leadership: • The ability to network and leverage resources within the community • Experience in various fields of business: Individuals with a strong background in education, law, accounting, fundraising, IT, marketing or public relations are strongly encouraged to apply • High motivation to assume a leadership role and make a difference in the community • Creativity and effectiveness in problem solving • Passion for children, youth and teens and the issues that impact them • The ability to establish and cultivate relationships with area philanthropists is definitely a plus We seek diversity … We welcome applications and inquiries from anyone who demonstrates leadership qualities and wants to make a difference in the lives of the youth in our community. The selection committee chooses Board Members with a conscious effort to reflect a multicultural, life experience and skill-­‐set balance. We seek your time, talents and treasures … Please be advised that attendance and full participation in the SKILLS Organization programs and events are essential. Time: The term of office for the Board of Directors shall be three (3) years. The term of office shall begin July 1st of each fiscal year. Re-­‐nomination will be considered at the end of each board member’s term.
