The Global Response Network (GRN) exists to share information, improve spill response performance and provide centres of expertise in spill preparedness, response and recovery techniques

This will be achieved by: fostering strong collaborative relationships amongst its Members; establishing functional teams to exchange operating information, response techniques and share good practice; and assisting oil companies and other stakeholders to enhance industry standards for spill response.

Established in 1991, the Australian Marine Oil Spill Centre (AMOSC) based in Geelong represents a major commitment by the Australian oil industry to safeguard the Australian coastline in the event of major oil spill. The Centre is financed by nine participating oil companies and other subscriber companies who carry out the vast majority of the oil and gas production, offshore pipeline, terminal operations and tanker movements around the Australian coast. Eastern Canada Response

Corporation (ECRC ~ SIMEC)

Eastern Canada Response Corporation (ECRC ~ SIMEC) is the largest Transport

Canada Certified Response Organisation (RO) in Canada. It has two roles: provide parties with an arrangement with a certified RO as required by Canadian

Law; and provide marine spill response services to its members when requested to do so. ECRC ~ SIMEC provides coverage in all Canadian waters east of the

Rocky Mountains, except for the ports of Saint John, NB and Point Tupper NS.

Headquartered in Ottawa, ECRC ~ SIMEC operates six response centres located in three regions: Great Lakes, Quebec and Atlantic Canada. Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas, OSRL is an industry leader in this field, having acquired a distinguished track record by attending more than 400 oil spill incidents during the past three decades. An emergency response can be activated from Bases in Fort Lauderdale, Southampton, and Singapore - and membership guarantees instant access to a wide range of expert personnel and specialist resources, on call 24 hours a day every day of the year. Aviation services are key to business delivery with dedicated aircraft strategically placed to deploy equipment rapidly anywhere in the world, and to provide aerial dispersant and surveillance operations. Access to integrated capping, containment and dispersant injection capability is available internationally in the event of a subsea well control incident.

Western Canada Marine Response

Corporation (WCMRC)

United States. It is a national not-for-profit response company which owns and operates a fleet of dedicated oil spill response vessels (OSRV), ocean going barges, shallow water skimming systems, other response equipment and enhanced communications capabilities throughout the United States East, Gulf, and West

Coasts, the U.S. Caribbean, the Hawaiian Islands and the Mid-continent region.

MSRC is funded by the Marine Preservation Association (MPA), a membersupported, non-profit organisation created to assist the petroleum and energy related industries by addressing problems caused by oil spills on water. www.msrc.org

Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is Canada’s west coast

Transport Canada Certified Response Organisation responsible for all navigable water in British Columbia, 27,000 km of coastal shorelines and waters out to the

200 nautical mile limit. With over 2,300 members WCMRC’s mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place to mitigate the impact of any oil spill.

WCMRC owns and operates 31 vessels and multiple caches of equipment that have been strategically located along the coast. As part of WCMRC’s prevention strategies the west coast of Canada has been mapped with both environmental and socio-economic sensitivities, and associated pre-planned strategies have been identified and developed. To support the operation WCMRC has developed a network of contractors and fishers (FOSET – Fishermen’s Oil Spill Emergency

Norwegian Clean Seas Association

for Operating Companies (NOFO)

Norwegian Clean Seas Association for Operating Companies (NOFO) develops and maintains oil spill preparedness on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in order to combat oil pollution on behalf of all 31 operating oil companies. This includes response in open seas as well as in coastal waters and along shorelines. NOFO is a dedicated, non-profit 24h/7d a week, oil spill response organisation with

30 full-time employees, 50+ duty/reinforcement personnel from operating oil companies and 80+ operators/ maintenance persons assigned to 5 bases. Associated to NOFO is a Special Team of 60+ skilled; advisors, on site commanders, team leaders and HSE advisors for Coast and Shoreline response, and a Beach Response Team of 40 skilled responders and team leaders with a 36 hour response time. Assigned to NOFO is a fleet of 31 Oil Recovery vessels and 28 towing vessels for mechanical recovery and /or dispersion offshore, and a fleet of 60 fishing vessels for coastal operations, all designed for response, and trained minimum twice annually. NOFO has a continuous focus on development of new response technology through sponsorship, technical advice and participation in selected industry projects, followed by field testing and verification of promising concepts during annual oil-on-water exercises. NOFO is part of the well-established national emergency preparedness model in Norway, which combines public and private oil spill response resources. www.nofo.no
