Explanatory notes
Definition
Alpine resort refers to alpine areas that are established primarily for the provision of
snowsports and associated snow activities. Some alpine resorts may also provide
summer operations for activities such as mountain biking, walking and guest visits.

Purpose

Natural and artificial features refers to the geographical features of the resort as well
as man-made features such as lifts, roads, half-pipes and structures within parks.
All learning and assessment towards this unit standard must be carried out in

Organisation operations and services are those roles that are undertaken at an
alpine resort that ansure provision of safe and effective use for guests.

Privacy Act 1993, and Human Rights Act 1993;
Alpine industry codes including Snow Responsibility Code and Outdoor Safety code;
Organisational policies and procedures including Emergency Action Plans (EAPs),
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the use of personal protective
equipment;

Evidence requirements
Major natural and artificial features, and base area facilities of the alpine resort
are identified and able to be located.

Services and products provided by the organisation or alpine resort are
explained in terms of how the different operations link to each other within the
alpine resort.
1.3
Knowledge of an alpine resort is described in terms of organisational structure,
vision, values and staff development systems.
