Who are we?
Skills & Learning Bournemouth, Dorset and
Poole
• Adult learning service covering the whole county
of Dorset
• In 2013 – 14 we worked with over 8000 learners
• We also work in partnership with a large number
of organisations across the county including; the
local authorities of Bournemouth, Dorset and
Poole, Job Centre Plus, Abilities, BCHA,
Equilibrium, EDAS, SWRAC, Prince’s Trust,
Children's Centres and Libraries.

We expect our teaching and learning staff
to:

Things you need to know
• Course viability is subject to minimum
numbers of enrolments
• Viability decisions are made a week before
the course starts
• We prefer tutors to commit to delivery of
multiple courses
• We are not able to offer fixed hour
contracts
Qualifications
• Tutors = minimum of the Education & Training Award/PTLLS
qualification (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) or
equivalent
• Assessors = an assessor award (Level 3 Certificate in Assessing
Vocational achievement, A1 or D32/D33)
• All tutors/assessors = a vocational/subject specific qualification at a
minimum of Level 3
• All tutors/assessors = Level 2 qualifications in English & maths
• Tutors will need to be prepared to work towards the Level 5 Diploma
in Education and Training (formerly DTLLS) if teaching qualification
courses in FL&A or VPD
• If you don’t have PTLLS we won’t be able to consider you for any
teaching vacancies but can advise you how to get started as Skills &
Learning will be offering the Level 3 Education & Training Award
from Sept.
