You might find some of these studying tips useful: 1. Start your study as soon as you get your revision list. Start earlyearly-leaving it all to the night before is to late and you will feel stressed. 2. Make sure you ask your teacher any questions you have, about any topic. 3. Stick to to your Study Plan; tackle the more difficult subjects first. 4. Study in a quiet place with no distractions e.g. phone, computer. 5. Prepare your Workplace • A tidy, undisturbed place to work • A comfortable chair • A table which gives you enough room for your books etc • A bright light • All the books you need – school notes, revision guides etc • Pens, pencils, scrap paper 6. Read over all topics and class tests. Learn from your corrections. Make out mind maps for each section, where appropriate, as these are a very good way of learning lots of information. 7. You can study with friends and help / test each other. 8. Ask for a parent / guardian or sibling to test you. 9. Do no more than 30 minutes in one go without a break – do 30 minutes, have a break, then do another 30 minutes minutes etc. Your brain starts loosing track after 30 minutes solid. 10. Build breaks into your study routine to relax, meet friends. Take some time off. 11. Most importantly go to bed early and make sure you have breakfast. You will not be able to concentrate if you you have not eaten. 12. Finally, good luck! Everyone has their preferred learning techniques: You may find the following tips useful; Learning Styles Know your preferred learning style Visual Learners Make posters with memory maps and diagrams Use post it notes with key facts on them Watch any relevant videos you can find Use colour and highlighter pens to emphasise facts Take a good look at any equipment used in the lesson Auditory Learners Try reading your notes out loud Make recordings of your notes and play them back to yourself Create rhymes and phrases to remember facts Talk through the topic with your friends Make sure you sit near the front in class so you can hear the teacher well Kinesthetic Learners Try walking about while reading your notes Get involved in practical lessons Take regular breaks and get up and move about Colour in your notes Make memory maps and highlight key facts Set yourself goals and reward yourself for achieving them, stay motivated Try to think of study time in a positive way … Remember why you are doing it St. Martin (Study Prayer) Loving Saint Martin ask God to bless any examinations and my hopes for the future years.
