It’s business as usual for RadioShack in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur,

4 February 2015

On 22 March 2012, Berjaya Retail Berhad and RadioShack Corporation USA signed a master development agreement to substantially expand RadioShack's global footprint across 10 Southeast Asian countries.

To date, Berjaya RadioShack Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berjaya Retail

Berhad, has opened 8 stand-alone stores and 5 stores-in-store and 3 book panels within

Borders Malaysia, in key malls within KL/Klang Valley and Penang, its latest being in

Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur.

In USA, RadioShack Corporation has been undergoing financial losses which has caused it to default in its debt settlement and has since been delisted on the New York Stock

Exchange. It faced delisting because the average market capitalisation of the company had fallen to less than $50 million for 30 consecutive trading days. The company will seek to implement an in-court proceeding under Chapter 11 while it negotiates various options to raise funds to continue operations.

Berjaya RadioShack Sdn Bhd is a separate entity from RadioShack Corporation, with an entirely separate P&L that is accountable to Berjaya Retail Berhad. RadioShack Malaysia does not rely on RadioShack Corporation and has its own arrangements in place with distributors worldwide for merchandise. As such RadioShack operations in Malaysia is not affected by the position that RadioShack Corporation USA is currently in.

“We have been prepared for this situation and assure our customers that in Malaysia,

RadioShack will continue to operate as usual. We are well stocked and do not forsee any interruption in our inventory,” said Yau Su Peng, Chief Operating Officer, Berjaya

RadioShack Sdn Bhd. adding that one more stand-alone store will open in the soon-to-beopened Sunway Putra Mall.

Berjaya Retail Berhad operates the 7-Eleven and Singer brands that have a combined network of 2,000 stores. It is owned by Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun, who is the major

shareholder of Berjaya Corporation. Berjaya's diversified holdings include food-service franchises; retailing concepts in consumer packaged goods, convenience, home entertainment, durable goods and bookstores; and a broad range of other holdings and investments.
