The work we do:
The starter (electric motor) is designed to use a small amount of
power to bring the combustion engine up to a starting speed of
over 300 rpm when the engine is warm. When short trips frequently
need to be made, for example, the high number of starts places a
great amount of strain on the starter, particularly in winter. The
electric motor wears more quickly, but we get it back into shape.

Processing
The work we do:
The alternator supplies electrical energy to all electricity consumers in the vehicle and charges the battery. Depending on the
speed, the alternator may be subject to extremely strong fluctuations and experiences a high level of wear as a result. We therefore carefully disassemble all components into their individual
parts during processing. The units are then checked, cleaned and
replaced if necessary as part of a constant quality monitoring
process.

For many decades now, we have been
known not only for our modern logistics
management and wide range of services,
but also for our high-quality products. Naturally, we are also seeking to expand this
to include our spare parts service for alternators and starters.
In order to provide you with clear and immediate verification that the processing
work has been carried out professionally
and under strict quality monitoring condi-
tions, we have developed an identification
mark to be used across the entire exchange
service. An Exchange seal is included on
all parts packaging. Along with the financial benefits involved in exchanging with
used parts, the seal also gives you the
assurance that you are being environmentally aware in your actions.

TestCenter
Improving product quality every day
Since March 2011, have had our own TestCenter for starters and alternators. This has
enabled us to further improve our product
quality in these particular product groups.
On the one hand, this is because we only
ever add products to our range if we have
thoroughly tested them ourselves and assessed them as having the right quality. On
the other hand, it is because the relevant
supplier receives immediate feedback if
there are problems with the test results,
and can therefore optimize the relevant
product right away.
Another important area of use for the TestCenter is identifying the causes of faults
following complaints. We have found that
only half of all complaints are justified.
As all complaint assessments now come
from the same place, they are based on
standardised testing criteria, making the
results directly comparable with one
another. As we now have direct contacts in-house, with shorter information paths, our complaint handling is
now much faster too.
Another important task of the TestCenter is to continuously monitor the quality of the starters and alternators. The
test bench is state of the art and even
detects computer signals that other
equipment would miss.

Returns criteria
The following pictures show damaged alternators and starters,
which cannot be accepted for return.
The unit is badly corroded/oxidised.
The shaft is stuck or cannot be turned easily.
The rotor shaft and/or thread are badly damaged.
The armature shaft is broken off or badly damaged.
The unit is displaced or has been overloaded and has
burnt out. The symptoms of this are: discolouration on the
pinion, shaft and free wheel due to overheating. Burnt cable
connection between solenoid switch and winding.
The unit smells of burning.
The unit is badly mechanically damaged or
the housing is ruptured.
The unit is incomplete or disassembled into its individual
parts. Parts are missing, e.g. regulator, pulley, vacuum
pump on the alternator or armature, solenoid switch,
windings on starter.
Enlarged/deformed attachment eyelet. Attachments have
been broken off. Drive bearing shield of the starter is broken.

the environment
For us, protecting the environment is not
something that is limited to specific, isolated work practices – environmental protection has been firmly integrated in the
company as a whole for a number of years
now. This can be seen in all kinds of measures throughout the company.
We are constantly looking for ways to save
energy and have a number of internal ecological measures in place, including: collaboration with partners in the field of energy and waste disposal; business trips by
train instead of car; replacing all windows
with energy-saving heat insulation glazing;
making use of photovoltaic systems; strict
waste separation; an ecological approach
to supplier selection.
To ensure that this is not restricted to the
measures alone, and instead achieve an
overall effect, an environmental protection
officer has been appointed at the company
since 2004 and is responsible for the fulfilment of environmental protection duties.
Our efforts were recognised in 2012 with
an environmental prize for an integrated
environmental concept.
Even the processing of alternators and
starters is part of our environmental protection measures. After all, where else is it
easier to save materials and energy than
through recycling used parts?
Whenever economy and ecology are
equally important issues, it is impossible
to avoid the option of reprocessing alternators and starters made from used parts.
There is no compromise whatsoever with
regard to quality, as the longevity and efficiency of the products is a match even for
new parts!
