INDUSTRY TRAINING PROGRAM PROFILE FOUNDATION TRAINING PROGRAM INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC (MILLWRIGHT) FOUNDATION PROGRAM Credential Issued: ITA Certificate of Completion (Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Foundation Program) Occupational Description: The Foundation Program consists of Level 1 technical training in addition to practical and essential skills related to the Industrial Instrument Mechanic apprentice program. “Millwright” means a person who dismantles, moves, installs, changes layout, sets-up, repairs, overhauls and maintains all machinery and heavy mechanical equipment, including power shafting, pulleys, conveyors and hoists. Program Duration & Structure: The in-school is designed to meet the competency standards, profile and essential skills defined by the industry, and will generally take 24 weeks to complete. The program includes: In-school: approximately 24 weeks* *The program is delivered by an ITA approved training provider. It can also be met through approved alternative training models (e.g. distance education, part-time) where these options are available. To participate in a Foundation Program, individuals must register directly with the training provider offering the program. Program Completion Requirements: Completion of specified technical training content, practical and theory assessments Level 1 written examination. Program Challenge Requirements: No challenge available Program Pre-requisites: Recommended Education: Grade 10 or equivalent including English 10, Mathematics 10 and Science 10. Preferred: Grade 12 Assessment Methods: In-school assessments (practical and written examination) Final Assessment (Level 1 written examination) Credit Towards Apprenticeship: Individuals who complete the Industrial Mechanic Foundation program will receive Level 1 technical training credit and 425 work-based hours credit toward completion of the Industrial Mechanic Level 1 apprenticeship program.
