It is indeed with great pride that I take this opportunity to present to you the Global
Investors Meet 2010 under the theme of Advantage
g Karnataka – The Knowledge
g Hub of
Asia. Karnataka is one of India’s fastest growing states with a strong industrial base and
a vibrant economy. In recent times, Karnataka has forged ahead from its global
technology leadership to being the knowledge hub. The State is making rapid strides in
the areas of Information Technology, Biotechnology, Aerospace, Machine Tools, and
Research & Development.
The State Government has always provided an investor-friendly administration. To fulfil
the Vision 2020 for Karnataka, the Government has undertaken several progressive
policies to propel balanced regional growth across the State. The Government is
acquiring 60,000 acres of land across 5 Industrial Corridors. The State Industrial Policy
2009 14 is facilitating investment in large projects through fiscal concessions,
2009-14
concessions land bank
and single-window clearances. The SEZ Policy provides smooth flow of investments for
projects in Special Economic Zones. A special thrust to infrastructure is being provided
to cater to the needs of growing economy. Pioneering sector-specific policies such as the
IT Policy, Semiconductor Policy, Biotech Millennium Policy, and Renewable Energy
Policyy are also beingg implemented.

Medical tourism and wellness centres are beingg
supported by Government accreditation norms to ensure quality care. The Smart Grid
pilot project will be the first of its kind in the country leading the way for efficient, green
power.

ECONOMY & INDUSTRIAL PROFILE
• One of the high wind sites in the country. The wind farms at Chitradurga have given
the best performance in the country by recording a capacity factor of 38.5%, the
highest in India.

Chitradurga Fort built on the North Eastern base constitutes the main residential area
of the town. The Forts are embellished with extensive fortifications, ramparts, bastions,
watchtowers and entrances located at strategic points and houses fourteen temples.
Chandravalli,, in the north easterlyy axis of the Chitradurga
g hill,, is an ancient
archaeological site.
Sirigere is well known for the Veershaiva Mutt of Taralabalu Jagadguru located
northwest of Chitradurga.
Bruhanmutt also known as Sri. Murugarajendra

Matt,, located about three kms from
Chitradurga,was built in honour of an eminent guru of the Veershaiva .
Aadumalleshwara is a Shiva Cave temple built by Aadooru Mallapa located 5 kms.
from Chitradurga. An interesting feature is a perennial stream that flows through Nandi’s
mouth.
Thamatekallu located 8 kms from Chitradurga has the oldest hero stone in Karnataka.
Ancient rock cut inscriptions are also found here.
Vani Vilas Sagar is an artificial lake built across the river Vedavathi by the Maharaja of
Mysore

and is also known as Marie Kanive
Gayatri Jalashaya also built by the Maharaja of Mysore across the river Suvarnamukhi,
this reservoir is a pleasant picnic spot
