Thanks to its reduced dimensions, its simple connections and its friendly use, it is a necessary support for the modern users in the vending machines market. The Fast Charger is powered by four rechargeable batteries. The reduced consumptions of the key charger permit a long operating range. The 16x2-character LCD display guarantees a simple and clear reading, while the 17-key matrix keyboard makes the use easy, direct and friendly. The high quality of the materials represents an additional value and a guarantee of life for the product and of fall and shock-resistance. CAUTION: to use your Fast Charger Key Charger correctly, it is essential to follow the instructions contained in this manual. CL 64 KB Data-Key Attention: the Fast Charger Key Charger foresees the use of AA type rechargeable batteries (NiMH from 2000 mA/h or above recommended). The red LED, which is placed next to the ON start key, remains lighted up during the battery recharge. When the LED switches off it means that the recharge operation is ended. 8 FAST CHARGER KEY CHARGER REL 1.4 ® Display The Fast Charger display has three different levels of brightness: • 100% of brightness when it operates with wall-type power supply; • 50% of brightness when it operates with batteries; • economy level. When the battery charge of the Fast Charger drops under a definite threshold, the display switches off automatically, permitting thus to use the energy saved only for the operations concerning the keys and the cards. E.C.S. CL 64KB Data-Key With the Fast Charger Key Charger is supplied the E.C.S. CL 64 KB Data-Key. It is a key, equipped with an internal clock, which can make more than 400 recordings in the standard recording mode. By means of a Personal Computer, the K4U Analyzer Terminal and the KDatiPlus software, it is possible to display the data recorded, print them and save them to a .TXT or .XML file if necessary. These data can then be processed with a management software. Accessories E.C.S. CL USB Data-Key The E.C.S. CL USB Data-Key has the same features of the E.C.S. CL Data-Key as far as the use mode and the memory capacity is concerned. Its peculiarity is the USB connector, which permits a higher suitability for data transfer from the systems to the PC. KDatiPlus supports the USB Data-Key beginning from release 2.30. By means of the KDati software rel. 3.0 and following ones, instead, it is possible to export the recorded data in EVA-DTS format. E.C.S. CL Softkey 256 KB and USB Softkey 256 KB The Softkey permits the firmware update in the System. The main feature of this key is the possibility of updating the firmware in the systems equipped with microprocessor with Flash memory, without replacing the microprocessor: the firmware is programmed in the Softkey by using the FlashManager software and then from the key it is transferred to the microprocessor. The firmware update must be carried out with the System in rest condition (without sales in progress or crediting of bills and coins). FlashManager supports the USB Softkey 256 KB beginning from release 1.10. E.C.S. CL Softkey 512 KB and USB Softkey 512 KB The Softkey 512 KB/ USB Softkey 512 KB keys are used as a normal Softkey (“E.C.S. CL Softkey 256 KB and USB Softkey 256 KB”). FlashManager supports the USB Softkey 512 9 ® CHAPTER 1 KB beginning from release 1.17. Harness for firmware update by means of PC If during the firmware update by means of Softkey (2÷6 minutes), the operator removes the key and interrupts the operation, it is necessary to make the update again by means of PC with the FlashManager software and the “Portable CL Key Charger Programming Harness” available at any Coges authorized dealer (see para. “Update by PC”). Portable printer for data recording This printer for data recording is used to print the accounting data of Coges systems, which were read by the Data-Key (see para. “E.C.S. CL 64KB Data-Key”). To connect the printer to the Fast Charger it is necessary to ask any Coges authorized dealer for the “Printer connecting harness to Fast Charger” which is described in the paragraph here below. Printer connecting harness to Fast Charger It is possible to ask any Coges authorized dealer for the “Printer connecting harness to Fast Charger” in order to carry out the print of the data present in the Data-Key by using the portable printer for data recording. Connect the 2x8 ways connector to the Fast Charger and the DIN 6-way connector to the printer. 10 FAST CHARGER KEY CHARGER REL 1.4 ® Operation mode The Fast Charger Key Charger foresees two different operation typologies: • Charge Key (default); • Discharge Key. Charge Key When operating as key charger the Fast Charger foresees two operation modes: cash operation by decrease or by increase. By decrease In the cash operation mode by decrease, in the Fast Charger is charged a credit (by means of the Data-Key) which permits to charge the user keys. In this manual the words "key" or "user key" are used to refer to the E.C.S. CL User Key, to the E.C.S. MyKey key or to the contactactless MyCard card in an equivalent way, except where some operating or programming differences among these supports are expressly specified. When the credit is used up, in the Fast Charger it is necessary to recharge a new credit for the cash by means of the Data-Key. With this operation all the transactions carried out too are recorded and the cash relative to the previous recharge is collected. By increase In the cash operation mode by increase there is no starting credit (cash). In this case each charge carried out in the keys reaches a total which is present in an inner counter of the Fast Charger too, in order to always permit a check between the operations carried out with the keys and the cash accumulated. Discharge Key In this mode the Fast Charger operates as a cash registrer: at each sale carried out with key a special sale counter inside the Fast Charger is increased and at the same time the same amount is reduced from the key. With the data recording by means of the Data-Key the Fast Charger counter is reset. All the recorded data can be transferred and processed by using the KDatiPlus software, which is available on the website: www.coges.it/download/software. 11 ® 12 CHAPTER 1 ® INSTALLATION Chapter 2 Installation Caution: before carrying out any operation concerning the batteries, please read carefully the instructions given in this chapter. Starting Battery insertion and replacement Make sure that the Fast Charger Key charger is turned off before carrying out any operation. • • Remove the screw which fastens the cover of the battery chamber; make the cover of the battery chamber, which is placed on the bottom of the Key charger, slide in the direction of the arrow indicated on the drawing and then remove it from its seat. Caution: the Fast Charger Key Charger foresees the use of AA type rechargeable batteries (NiMH from 2000 mA/h or above recommended). OP OP EN EN fig. 3 13 ® • • • CHAPTER 2 Insert four AA type rechargeable batteries (NiMH from 2000 mA/h or above recommended). Be careful to check the polarity of the batteries: it must correspond to the indications reported in the battery chamber. Close the battery chamber by inserting the cover in the guides and by moving it till it is blocked; fasten the cover with the screw. Connect the power supply and make a complete recharge. Battery Recharge When in the Fast Charger the battery charge drops under a definite threshold, the display switches off automatically, permitting thus to use the energy saved only for the operations carried out with the keys and the cards. When the batteries are completely discharged it is necessary to replace them with other rechargeable ones (see para. “Battery insertion and replacement”), or recharge the batteries which are already present in the Fast Charger by means of the wall-type power supply which is supplied with the Key Charger. Connect the power supply connector to the Fast Charger outlet (position 6 fig. 2). The red LED (position 3 fig. 2), which is placed next to the ON start key, lights up to signal that the batteries are recharging. The LED remains lighted up till the batteries are completely charged, after which it switches off. Disconnect the power supply from the Fast Charger. During the operation of battery recharge the Fast Charger can be normally used. Caution: the flat batteries are not household waste; therefore they shall be handled according to the laws in force. 14 ® PROGRAMMING Chapter 3 Programming Before carrying out the operations of sale or key charging, some configuration operations are necessary: • Starting the Fast Charger; • Programming the base parameters. Fast Charger keys The Fast Charger has a keyboard consisting of 10 numerical keys and 7 function keys. 1 = Red LED: battery is recharging; 2 = P key for programming the base parameters; 3 = >> key to pass to the following menu item; 4 = << key to pass to the previous menu item; 5 = F key to print the data coming from the Data-Key; 6 = ENT key to confirm the entered data; 7 = ESC key to cancel the entered data; 8 = 0/9 numerical keys; 9 = ON start key. fig. 4 1 9 2 3 8 4 5 7 6 The P key is used in the configuration phase, to enter the programming of the Fast Charger base parameters. The >> and << keys are used to move inside the menus or to choose any option present inside a submenu. The F key is used to carry out the printing of the data contained in the Data-Key. The ENT key is used to confirm the preset data, while the ESC key is used to cancel a data which was just set or to quit the parameter without saving. The keypad (0/9) is used to set all the numerical values required in the different operations of the Fast Charger: enter tha data in the programming phase, set the recharge value or the sales to be carried out with the key, etc. The ON key is used to switch on the Fast Charger. Note: The Fast Charger switches off automatically if left unused for 60 seconds. 15 ® CHAPTER 3 Configuration Starting the Fast Charger WARNING: to use your Fast Charger Key Charger correctly you must follow the instructions given below. • • • • • • 16 Press the ON key to switch on the Fast Charger; insert the Data-Key and press the P key (programming); by using the arrow keys scroll the programming menu until you reach the Operator Code item (this code corresponds respectively to the settings for C51 and C52 codes in the E.C.S. COGES Systems); enter your own Operator Code; remove the Data-Key; set the operation mode according to what explained in the corresponding paragraph. Key Description Display ON 1) At switching on the display shows the Coges logo for a few seconds. ***COGES*** 2) Then the display shows the product name, the software release and the checksum. Fast Charger v.X.XX CK:0XXXXX 3) If the display shows the message: “Enter Op.Code” it means that the protection function of the Fast Charger was enabled. Enter the Operator Code to enter the programming menu. If the display does not show the message “Enter Op.Code”, go to point 4. Enter Op.Code -------- 4) The display shows the value present in the cash and the message “Insert Key”. Cash € XXX Insert Key ® PROGRAMMING Key Description Display 5) The software checks the batteries condition. If the batteries are discharged or exhausting, the display shows for a few seconds the message: “**Warning** - batt. discharged”. The Fast Charger switches off the display lighting. **WARNING** batt. discharged Note: in this phase it is possible to insert the Data-Key to read, load or program the Fast Charger parameters. Programming the base parameters After switching on the Fast Charger and after inserting the Data-Key it is possible to carry out the programming of the parameters which represent the base data for a correct operation of the Fast Charger and a correct configuration with the Data-Key for data and transactions recording. Programming parameters of the Fast Charger: • Machine Number; • Operator Code; • Old Op. Code; • Maximum Credit; • Decimal Points; • LocationCode - Section Code; • Message Language; • Credit Area; • Cash Operation; • FastCharger Op.; • Programming; • PIN; • Total Recharges; • Date Time. Machine Number It permits to enter the identification number of the Fast Charger. It consists of 8 digits and is stored in the Data-Key at each data recording or cash recharging. 17 ® CHAPTER 3 Operator Code This parameter consists of 8 digits and, once stored, it permits the recognition of keys belonging to a management. The code is set in order to avoid that the keys belonging to other managements can make use of agreements or advantages of other operators. Before enabling any transaction the Fast Charger checks the key operator code; if this is correct, it enables the key to the successive operations, if it is not correct the "**Error** - D-K Operator Code" message is displayed and no operation on the key will be allowed. The coding of a new key occurs in an automatic way with the first transaction: from that moment on its use is bound to the Fast Charger whose operator code corresponds to the stored one. Old Operator Code This parameter, consisting of 8 digits, is used when it is necessary to make a change of the operator code. It is enough to enter the new operator code in the “Operator Code” item and the previous operator code in the “Old operator code” item. When the keys are inserted in the Reader, they are coded with the new operator code. Maximum Credit This parameter defines the maximum amount which can be stored inside the key (the maximum value which can be set is 650,00 Euro). Decimal Points It sets the number of decimal digits necessary for the management of the preset currency (number included between 0 and 3). The data entered by using the Fast Charger keyboard are shown on the display starting from right to left. Location and Section Code It is an identification code linked to the place (location) where the use of the keys is to be enabled (ex.: hospitals, schools or hotels placed on different floors, where at each floor can be assigned a different location code both inside the keys and in the devices which distribute the services). The Location code consists of 4 digits; before each operation with key a check is performed on the location code of both the key and the devices which distribute the service. If the code results to be the same the key is enabled, otherwise on the display is shown an error message and the key is refused. When the location code of the device is set at zero (0000) all the keys are enabled to the service independently from the programming setting; if the location code is set at zero inside the key, it will result enabled in all the present locations. The Section code consists of 2 digits, which is a further specification of the Location code; there are further area subdivisions of the users enabled to the consumptions with keys. The Section code is enabled only when the Location code was set. 18 PROGRAMMING ® Message Language This submenu permits to set the type of language to be used for displaying the programming menu and the messages on the display of the Fast Charger. The menu foresees the following languages: Italiano, English, Français, Deutsch and Español. Credit Area Coges User Keys are divided into two credit areas; each of them can be managed in an independent way thanks to the use of different operator codes; usually the first credit area is used with the payment systems (ex. vending machines), while the second area is used with the access control systems (OnTime Terminal). This code is used to set the credit area where the System operates. For example two operators could set the corresponding systems in order to operate on different credit areas, making thus possible the use on the same user key of two distinct credits, which are managed autonomously. This item can have two values: • 1 = use the first credit area (default); • 2 = use the second credit area. Cash Operation In the setting as Key Charger it is possible to choose between two operation modes: “by decrease” or “by increase”. In the decrease mode, inside the Fast Charger is pre-charged a credit by means of the Data-Key which permits to charge the user keys. When the credit is used up it is necessary to recharge the Fast Charger with the Data-Key. In the increase mode the Key charger reaches a total of credit charged in the user keys in a proper counter. This is reset only when the accumulated cash is collected and the data recording is carried out by using the Data-Key. Fast Charger Operation This programming item permits to set the Fast Charger to operate as Charge Key or Discharge Key. When operating as Key charger it is possible to load a credit inside the user keys to make use of the services which are distributed by key. When operating as Discharge Key it is possible to use the Fast Charger as cash register for the normal sale operations with key. Programming This parameter foresees two options: “enabled” or “disabled”. The “enabled” option enables the programming menu of the Fast Charger by simply pressing the P key of the keyboard; it does not foresee any protection. The “disabled” option inhibits the programming menu. In this case it is possible to enable it in a temporary way by using the operator code as password. 19 ® CHAPTER 3 PIN The PIN term stands for "Personal Identification Number" and is a 4-digit protection code which enables the use of the Fast Charger. Generally the PIN is used by the personnel destined for the operations on the Fast Charger in order to avoid that other people carry out not controlled operations on the keys. If the code is set at zero (0000) there is no protection. Total Recharges This item foresees the display of the total accumulated inside the Fast Charger. The total has a different meaning if the Fast Charger was set as Charge Key or Discharge Key. In the Charge Key setting, what is displayed is the the total charge inside the keys; in the Discharge Key setting what is displayed is the total of sales carried out with the Fast Charger. The total can only be displayed and not changed. It is reset only after the reinitialisation of the Fast Charger (see para. “Resetting the Fast Charger ”). Date and Time adjustment The parameter permits to adjust the date and time inside the Data-Key. The date is displayed according to the European standard (dd.mm.yy). Key ON 20 Description Display 1) Switch on the Fast Charger and insert the Data-Key. P 2) Press the P key to enter programming. The display shows the message:”Programming Fast Charger”. Date XX/XX/XX Time XX:XX Programming the User Key After switching on the Fast Charger and after inserting a User Key, it is possible to change the amount of credit stored or to program some operating parameters. Programming the credit Charge Key by decrease mode In the Charge Key by decrease mode, inside the Fast Charger is charged a credit by using the Data-Key/ USB Data-Key (cash), which permits to charge the user keys. When the credit is used up, inside the Fast Charger it is necessary to recharge a new credit by using the Data-Key. When the operator withdraws the cash, the data recording too is carried out by means of the Data-Key. Initializing the cash credit Key Description 1) Insert the Data-Key; in the upper line of the display is shown the value of credit present in the Fast Charger cash and in the lower line the preset value for recharge (def. 0). 24 5000 2) Enter the value to be charged in the Fast Charger cash, by acting on the keypad: ex. 50,00 Euro (the number must include the decimals too). Cash € 21,00 Insert Key Credit € 0,25 ® PROGRAMMING Discharge Key by increase mode In the Discharge Key operation mode with cash by increase at each transaction carried out with the key, the discarged credit reaches a total even in the inner counter of the Fast Charger, in order to always permit a check between the operations carried out with the keys and the cash accumulated. Description Display 1) After switching on (see para. “Starting the Fast Charger”) the display shows the total rest in the cash and the message: “Insert Key”. Discharge - 0,00? 50 3) Set the value to be discharged from the key by acting on the Fast Charger keyboard (ex. 0,50 Euro). Discharge - 0,50? ENT 4) Press the ENT key to confirm the data. The display shows the new value present in the key. Credit € 5,00 Remove Key 5) Remove the user key. The display shows the total discharged from the keys and the message: “Insert Key”. Cash € 21,00 Insert Key ® Key Credit € 5,50 Credit € 5,50 27 ® CHAPTER 3 Resetting the Fast Charger In some cases it may be necessary to reset the data contained in the Fast Charger, by carrying out a new initialization. This could happen, for example, if the operator makes a mistake in entering his own code while programming the device. The reinitialization occurs in the following way: Key Description Display 1) Insert the Data-Key in the reader. The display shows the message: “**Error** - D-K Operator Code”. **ERROR** D-K Operator Code 6203 2) Then the reset code is asked. It is a fixed code consisting of 4 digits: 6203. Reset Code 6203 ENT 3) Press the ENT key to confirm the entered data. After confirming all the data present in the Fast Charger these assume the default settings again. ResetFastCharger Wait... At this point the Fast Charger is in the same condition as it was at the moment of purchase; it is only necessary to insert a Data-Key/ USB Data-Key and press the P key to enter the programming menu and set the desired parameters. It is also possible to use the Data-Key to force the Charger to reset with a correct operator code. Once the Data-Key has been inserted, with the ‘Programming’ parameter disabled (see para. “Programming the base parameters”), press the P key and when the operator code is asked, press the P key again. 28 ® PROGRAMMING Printing Function and Data-Key/ USB Data-Key Reset With the Fast Charger it is possible to print the data contained in the Data-Key/ USB Data-Key. The printing occurs by means of the “Connecting harness to printer and PC”, available on request (see para. “Printer connecting harness to Fast Charger”), and the portable printer for data recording (see para. “Portable printer for data recording”). Key Description Display 1) Insert the Data-Key in the reader. The display shows the value present in the cash and the value preset for the recharge. Cash € 9,00 Recharge + 0,00 F 2) Press the F key to access the function of data printing. The display shows the message: “Print? - ENT= OK”. Print? ENT= OK ENT 3) Press the ENT key to start printing the data contained inside the DataKey. During printing the display shows the message: “Print in progress - Wait ...”. Print in progress Wait ... ENT 4) At the end of the printing operation it is possible to reset the data present in the Data-Key by pressing the ENT key. Reset Data? ENT= OK 5) The reset operation can last quite a few seconds, during which the display of the Fast Charger shows the message: “Wait ...”. Wait ... 6) At the end of the operation the display shows the value present in the cash and the message: “Remove Key”. Cash € 9,00 Remove Key 29 ® CHAPTER 3 Programming the operating parameters of the User Key Once the User Key has been inserted, press the >> key of the Fast Charger to scroll the programming menu items and the ENT key to change the selected parameter. Programming parameters of the User Key: • Key Transaction; • Subsc.; • YearSub.; • Points cat1; • Points cat2; • Points cat3; • Bonus Sale Cat.; • Bonus Rec.Cat.; • Price Table. Key Transaction The last 8 transactions recorded on the key are displayed, ordered starting from the last carried out (no. 1) up to the less recent (no. 8); for each transaction are reported the date (if it is supported by the System where the transaction was carried out) and the credit present in the key at the end of the transaction. This function is available only for the MyKey key or the MyCard card. Key Description ENT 1) At the “Key Transaction” item press the ENT key to display the transactions. Key Transaction 2) The information concerning the last transaction is displayed. It is a date beyond which it is no longer possible to use the services by means of the key. To enable the key again it is necessary to set a new date of subscription expiry. The value of this parameter can be from 0 up to 15; to disable the Bonus it is necessary to set the XX value by using the << or >> keys of the key charger. Key Description Display 1) At the “Bonus Rec.Cat.” item the preset data is displayed. Bonus Rec.Cat. 01 ENT 2) Press the ENT key to change the data. 02 3) Enter the Bonus Recharge Category, for example 02. The display shows the preset data. Bonus Rec.Cat. 02 ENT 4) Press the ENT key to confirm the data. Bonus Rec.Cat. 02 Bonus Rec.Cat. >0?1 The Bonus Sale Category and the Bonus Recharge Category both depend on the Bonus enabling. By disabling this function in any of the two items, it will be disabled in the other item too, automatically taking the XX value. Price Table The menu item permits to display or change the Price Table set in the key. Key Description Display 1) At the “Price Table” item the preset data is displayed. Price Table 2 33 ® CHAPTER 3 Error messages Error Description Intervention **Error** Key Credit The error occurs when the value of the key after recharging is higher than the pre-set value defined when the Charger was programmed. Press the ESC key and enter a new recharge value which permits to end the operation in the correct way. The error occurs when the pre-set recharge value is higher than the cash currently available in the Charger. Press the ESC key and enter a new recharge value which permits to end the operation in the correct way. The batteries present in the Key Charger are not rechargeable. Check the batteries and replace them. **Error** Insuf.CashCredit ERROR BATTERY Firmware update Update by means of E.C.S. CL Softkey or USB Softkey 256/512 KB In the System the firmware update can be carried out by means of the 256 or 512 KB Softkey/USB Softkey. The main characteristic of this key is to permit the firmware update, without replacing the microprocessor in the Systems equipped with Flash memory. • • • • Transfer the programming to the key by using the FlashManager software (which is available in the Download area of the website www.coges.it); insert the Softkey/USB Softkey in the device. The time necessary for update can change from 2 up to 6 minutes according to the software release and on the display appears a message indicating that programming is in progress; at the end of programming on the display appears a message inviting you to extract the key from the reader; extract the key and make the System start again. FlashManager supports the 256 KB Softkey/ USB Softkey beginning from release 1.10 and the 512 KB Softkey/ USB Softkey beginning from release 1.17. 34 PROGRAMMING ® If during the firmware update the Softkey is wrongly removed from the reader, the system’s display shows the message: “Error”. In this case it is recommended to switch off the System and to switch it on again with the Softkey inserted, in order to continue, if possible, the update operation. If it were not so, the operation should be repeated by using the PC with the FlashManager software (see para. “Update by PC”). Update by PC The firmware update can also occur by means of portable or palmtop PC connected to the proper connector of the Fast Charger (see para. “Parts Description”). For the update by PC the FlashManager software is used, which is available at our website: www.coges.it/download/software. The update foresees the PC connection with the Fast Charger by means of the "Harness for firmware update by means of PC". Connect the 2x8 ways connector to the Fast Charger and the Sub-D 9-way connector to the PC. 35 ® 36 CHAPTER 3 ® WARNINGS Chapter 4 Warnings We kindly ask you to pay attention to the following points in order to ensure the integrity and the full functionality of your Fast Charger. ♦ Avoid direct sunlight and anyway do not expose the appliance to temperatures higher than 50 centigrade degrees. ♦ Temperatures below zero centigrade degrees may compromise the operation of the electronic components of the boards. ♦ Do not leave the appliance in very wet places. ♦ Keep the appliance out of dust. ♦ Avoid any contact with liquids.
