Motion diagrams A motion diagram is a pictorial representation of motion. In other words, a way of showing motion using pictures. Use a dot to represent the object in motion. Show the position of the dot at equal time intervals. Show the velocity and acceleration vectors, as appropriate. 1 e.g. a ball is rolling at a constant velocity of 2 m/s. Draw the motion diagram. 2 A car starts from rest and accelerates to the left. Draw the motion diagram. 3 Get in the habit of drawing motion diagrams at the beginning of all problems.
