*The VC Dean of Instruction must approve concurrent students taking more than
six hours (two classes) in one semester. Seniors who want to take College
Algebra, government, and English, must complete the Nine Hour Approval form
and return it to the HS counselor. It will then be forwarded to VC after principal
approval and for those meeting all prereqs and placement standards.
First time VC students must follow the admission procedures listed above for
Juniors. 14/15 juniors who took VC U.S. History or English in either fall or spring
are returning students and do not have to re-apply for admission, re-submit a VC
Concurrent Enrollment Permission form, or SHS Parent Permission form. All they
must do is register for government and/or English, and/or request College Algebra
from the HS counselor (and be approved for nine hours if all three courses are
wanted and all prereqs are met.)
The TSI Assessment is offered at VC. VC’s Test Center site is at
http://www.vernoncollege.edu/PlacementTesting.aspx and the numbers are: Vernon 940552-6291 ext. 2317; Wichita Falls - 940-689-3778. The test center supervisor rotates
between campuses. Her schedule is posted at the above site. Details as to costs, required
identification, etc., are posted at both sites. It is important that students call the test
site at which they will test to reserve a place and to know what they will need to
bring.
Due to the registration software VC uses the HS counselor must submit a list to VC for
all students who met TSI math standards for entry into College Algebra. Those students
who have met the SHS prereqs and TSI standard for College Algebra will have their
names submitted 6/11/15 which is my last day in the office for the summer. They will
then be registered by VC personnel for the course (VC accounts for current students will
remain active through the summer for fall.) If a new VC student they will be registered
for the course after they have been admitted to VC. All students must do then is pay for
the course by the payment deadline. They will have an online account set up as will all
other students who receive a pin. Instructions for accessing payment information at this
account are below. Students who must take the math section of the TSI Assessment for
entry into College Algebra must bring the HS counselor a copy of their score report by
6/11/15. Students should call first to make sure I am in if coming prior to then. I will
then submit the College Algebra list to VC. Only those students who have met the VC
College Algebra standard through HS math grades and ACT/SAT or, the TSI math
Assessment score by that date will be registered for College Algebra. Students who
meet the standard but neglect to sign up with the counselor will have to register onsite via final registration. Those who register for any class but do not pay by the
payment deadline must also register/pay via final registration. Final registration
dates will be posted in April at the Registration Guide link http://www.vernoncollege.edu/Publications/ClassSchedules.aspx.
Registration and Payment Information
After applying students receive a pin. After they have met TSI standards for their courses
and have been cleared for registration (takes up to two weeks after admissions receives
the VC Concurrent Enrollment Permission form and TSI scores) they are then ready to
register for their courses. Registration generally opens the first week of May for both
new and returning students with the payment deadline the first of August. This
