Quick Reference Guide for VCR Playing and Recording Horizon View Definitions TV tuned to 4 TV-1 (Stream 1) RG Residential Gateway - RG Residential Gateway Remote Control - RG remote (provided with your Horizon View service) Show - is the television program you wish to watch - (e.g., Friends.) TV tuned to 7 TV-2 (Stream 2) TV tuned to 13 TV-3 (Stream 3) The Horizon View Technicians have marked your TVs and RG remote controls with the proper information for the above. Getting Started Be sure that your Horizon View co-axial cable routes through your VCR before getting to your TV; just like an antenna, cable or satellite hook-up. Make sure your VCR is fully set up with time, date and etc. Set your VCR channel on the same channel that you are using for the TV that it is associated with. (e.g., if the TV and VCR are connected to TV-1 (channel 4) then set your VCR to channel 4. On the back of the VCR which is connected to TV-1 stream, set the “VCR switch” to 4. If you have a VCR connected to TV-2 and/or TV-3 stream, then set the “VCR switch” on the back of those VCR’s to 3. Playing a Tape • With your VCR connected to TV-1 stream, turn on the VCR, insert tape and press play • If your VCR is connected to TV-2 or TV-3 stream, turn on the VCR, change the channel to channel 3, insert tape and press play Recording and Watching the Same Show TV Tuned To VCR Tuned To TV-1 4 4 TV-2 3 7 TV-3 3 13 After setting up the above, use your RG remote to change to the show that you wish to record and watch, insert tape and press record on your VCR. Watching One Show While Recording Another Show at the Same Time This function requires the use of two TV streams and two RG remotes. TV Tuned To VCR Tuned To TV-1 4 7 or 13 • After programming TV and VCR to the above, use the second RG remote control (that controls TV-2 or TV-3 stream) and find the show you wish to record • Press record • Press your TV/VCR button off on your VCR remote • Now you can change the television to watch your show using the RG remote for TV-1 stream Timed Program Recording While at Home or Away, with TV Off Set your VCR to the correct time and date by using your VCR instruction booklet. Also follow the VCR booklet for timed program recording. TV Tuned To VCR Tuned To TV-1 4 4 • Program your VCR to record channel 4 • Then use your RG remote to auto tune Auto tuning with your RG remote blue keys • Go to Guide • Find the show and time slot you wish to record, press select • Right arrow over to actions, press select • Arrow down to schedule auto tune, press select • Determine if it is a one-time, daily or once-a-week recording and press select • Auto tune will be accepted • Exit out of programming mode * Important: If you wish to record a program while the TV is turned off: Turn off the TV using the TV power button.
