Talented Students Scholarships Program 2015 – 2016 1 www.adec.ac.ae Talented Students Scholarships Program Abu Dhabi Government is keen to upgrade the qualifications of UAE nationals and harness their capabilities, the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) offers a Talented Students Scholarships Program and a Study Leave Program to UAE students and Abu Dhabi Government employees in order to develop future leaders who can drive the socio-economic development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The ADEC Guidance and Scholarships Division - Higher Education Sector, helps promote the national human capital required to meet labor market needs through the undergraduate and post-graduate scholarships. Such scholarships are granted based on certain criteria in line with the policy set by the division. All aspects related to the program are managed by the division; including program development, criteria setting, coordinating with the scholarship committee, following up on financial and academic matters and all other issues relating to students’ welfare throughout their studies. What is the importance of the Talented Students Scholarships Program? ADEC offers the Talented Students Scholarships Program for outstanding grade 12 Emirati students and ongoing university students attending universities recommended by ADEC. Students are encouraged to major in specialized disciplines offered by leading universities within the UAE and abroad. These disciplines are needed for Abu Dhabi’s growth and sustainability. 2. What are the universities and majors recommended by ADEC for the Talented Students Scholarships program? The recommended universities and majors will be announced in newspapers, schools and posted on ADEC website. 3. Who is eligible to apply for the Talented Students Scholarships Program? Grade 12 students: - Must be a UAE national - Must not be older than 24 years - Must score 85% or higher in grade 12 certificate or equivalent - Must pass the interview and tests required by ADEC - Must obtain an admission acceptance letter from an academic institution/major approved by ADEC - Must pass the CEPA-English exam with minimum required score of 150, or IELTS exam with 5.0, or TOEFL IBT with 60 - Must be high school fresh graduate (academic year 2015-2016) 4 University students: - Must be a UAE national - Must not be older than 24 years - Must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours in university/major approved by ADEC (students enrolled in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences must complete at least the first year of the medical sciences) - Must have a minimum GPA of 3.00 from 4.00 - Must pass the interview and tests required by ADEC - Must pass the IELTS exam with a minimum required score of 150, or TOEFL IBT with 60 4. How to apply for the Talented Students Scholarships Program? Applying for the program will be only online through ADEC website via the link https://scholarships.adec.ac.ae. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. 5. What is the timeline to apply for the Talented Students Scholarship Program? The start and closing dates for the registration will be announced in the newspapers, schools, and ADEC website. 6. What are the documents required to apply for the Talented Students Scholarships Program? - A copy of a valid passport including the unified number page - A copy of the Family Book - A copy of a valid Emirates ID card - One personal photo (passport size) - Attested copies of grade 9, grade 10, grade 11 and grade 12 certificates - A copy of the acceptance letter from a higher education institution/major recommended by ADEC - A copy of valid CEPA-English result, IELTS or TOEFL IBT certificate - A copy of the National Service Letter (for male students only) - A copy of the latest academic transcript (for university students) Talented Students Scholarships Program 5 7. What are the advantages and incentives offered when joining the Talented Students Scholarships Program? In UAE: - A monthly stipend of AED 6,250 for the single scholar and AED 6,875 for the married male scholar - A remuneration equals to a two-month stipend if the scholar completes 30 credits in an academic year with at least 3.6 or above - All tuition fees are covered if the scholar is studying in a private university approved by ADEC - Suitable job opportunities after graduation Abroad: - All tuition fees will be covered - Travel arrangement costs of AED 6,000 in addition to a computer allowance of AED 5,000 to be paid once only - A monthly stipend of USD 4,000 - A monthly accommodation allowance of USD 1,000 for the single scholar and USD 2,000 for the married scholar - Textbook allowance of USD 1,000 twice per academic year - Two economy class round trip tickets per academic year for the scholar - Extra two economy class round trip tickets for first-degree family relative accompanying single national female scholar and a daily stipend of USD 150 for 90 days only - A remuneration equals to a two-month stipend if the scholar completes 30 credits in an academic year with at least 3.6 or above - Medical insurance - Suitable job opportunities after graduation Talented Students Scholarships Program 7 8.
