IT Association of Slovakia
IT Association Slovakia (ITAS) is a professional association representing the most
significant companies operating in the Slovak market in the field of Information and
Communication Technologies (ICT).
Members of the association are companies with more 30 000 employees. More than
85 professionally registered members represent around 90% of the Slovak ICT
market.
Primary functions of ITAS are:

To actively encourage the creation of a developing information society.

To participate in any new legislation which may impact on ICT

To help achieve sufficient qualified human resources to feed the ICT sector

To demonstrate the potential and possibilities of ICT for the efficient growth

of the public and private sectors.

To promote the interests of the ICT sector
ITAS was founded in September 1999.
ITAS is a member of the Republic Union of Employers of Slovakia and DigitalEurope.

IT FITNESS TEST OVERVIEW
IT FITNESS TEST:

is the KEY activity run under the eSkills campaigns
is an on-line test is aimed for testing of basic IT skills of all age-groups in Slovakia
allows obtaining important statistical information about general IT knowledge in Slovakia
is being prepared by respected team of academics from Comenius University in Bratislava
is being reviewed not only on a local level, but also internationally (Czech partners) and by several
media
reflects current technologies, software and security issues
represents both expectations of IT industry and schools on eSkills
is being organised with the official patronage of Ministry of Education and Digital Champion in
Slovakia and the EC representation in Slovakia
gives a special certificate on knowledge that can be shared via Social networks
motivates to participate by possibility of winning nice prizes (from partners)
is being translated into English language and being offered to other countries

First IT FITNESS test has been executed under the eSkills Week 2010 activities
IT FITNESS test had an immediate success – within media, also general public
IT FITNESS test is currently running 4th time (2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014)

IT FITNESS TEST 2014 consists of TWO tests:
- IT FITNESS TEST for secondary schools
- IT FITNESS TEST for primary schools

received official patronage from Ministry of Education and Digital Champion in Slovakia
and EC representation in Slovakia

testing runs from 14.5.2014 to 31.7.2014 – as a competition for individuals, students &
schools
-
offers special mobile applications for all platforms (Android , iOS, Windows 8.1) that will enable
general public to repeat tests together with auto correction letting them to learn (available from
1.8.2014) and promised by the Digital Champion to be installed into all tablets that will go to
Slovak schools since 2014 !!

Prizes will be delivered to the winners during main ICT conference – IT Summit 2014

Official support / patronage by government is ABSOLUTELY KEY
Planning in advance is vital (communication with schools, partners)
Need of perfect IT support (heavy web-traffic after TV/ radio media coverage)
Tests need to be done professionally with many reviews before launch
Prizes need to be motivational for both individuals and schools to participate
Celebrity faces of the project increase involvement of public
Positive findings:

Schools / teachers are WELCOMING such tests and using the tests during their classes
Such activity is welcomed by government
Natural competitiveness among schools / students brings huge involvement
Other countries are interested and use our IT FITNESS TEST !
