HAY303/HAYG434: Psychology Project A
Proposal Wiki Task
Aims
Researchers and business people frequently present their work to colleagues, clients, and
other parties. The aim of this assessment is to give students a chance to develop presentation
skills, gauge their progress on the Major Development Proposal, and further develop and
refine their Major Development Proposal ideas.
Background
As part of the assessment for this unit you are required to prepare and present a
wiki. A wiki is a website which you build with an easy-to-use web interface. It requires no
special training to use, but creating a wiki is a useful skill to develop. The wiki should be a
summary of your Major Development Proposal, but as your project is still a work in progress
you are only expected to present a wiki outlining what you intend to submit for your Major
Development Proposal.
Submission Requirements
Your project group should develop a Blackboard Wiki (accessed through your project
group page) for viewing by staff in this unit.
This component is worth 5% of the grade for this unit.
The wiki should have around 5 pages of content, structured according to the five
sections of the major submission. In particular, the wiki should provide a brief
overview of:
Definition of the construct being measured and why it is useful/interesting
Theoretical background/literature review
Technical, theoretical and practical issues in constructing the measure
Example items/protocol
Validation protocol
Ethics/Resources –mention only any unusual or higher-than-normal risk issues
associated with your target group/measure, e.g. working with children, obtaining
a large clinical sample, testing procedure involving risk
The wiki should also have a “front page” with a title, index and summary
The wiki must be available for release by 5pm on Friday March 30.
By 5pm on Friday April 13, staff will view the wikis and provide:
Constructive criticism about the project.
A mark out of 5.
Grading
Marks will be awarded on the basis of:
Degree to which the wiki clearly and concisely describes the critical elements of the
project.
Clarity and quality of the wiki, and adherence to format requirements.
The right picture is worth 1,000 words. Credit may be given for appropriate use of
pictures, diagrams and other media which aid your presentation.
The wiki is meant to be a group effort, and if individual contributions are unequal,
individual marks may be awarded on the basis of collaboration/contribution. (We can
tell who posted what!)
