ACTIVITIES
Curriculum
The high school (Grade 9 to 12) curriculum is guided by the IB Middle Years and IB Diploma Programmes. All students in
Grades 11 and 12 take IBDP courses. In addition, these students must complete Creativity, Action, Service (CAS) commitments
and coursework in Theory of Knowledge, and an Extended Essay (for IB Diploma candidates). ISHCMC students primarily
attend universities in North America, the United Kingdom, Asia and Australia; courses are college-preparatory in nature.
Grading
ISHCMC grades on the IB 1-7 scale and does not calculate GPAs for our students. In cases of transfer students, prior courses at
other schools are considered in determining passing credits towards graduation only. ISHCMC will attach official records from
prior schools but does not take responsibility for verifying their accuracy.

EXTRA CURRICULAR
The high school at ISHCMC has a rich and varied extra curricular program. High school students are also given the opportunity
to represent the school in various athletic and academic events organized by the Mekong River International School Association
(MRISA). These events provide opportunities to travel to other countries to engage in the activities of their choice. The
after-school activities program (ASA) seeks to positively unite students, coaches and teachers from a variety of international
backgrounds through shared experiences. Listed below are the primary extracurricular activities and initiatives currently on offer
for ISHCMC students.
IB MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAMME
The IB MYP is the ISHCMC curriculum framework for Grades 6-10. Students follow courses in eight (8) subject areas.
ISHCMC MYP students consistently perform above the world average for the IBMYP. All students in grades 9 and 10 are active
participants in an extensive Community & Service program.
The capstone of the MYP is the Personal Project, a student-led project developed over the course of six (6) months. The
student’s journal, final product and reflective essay are assessed and externally moderated, by the International Baccalaureate.
MINDFULNESS
Every day, all ISHCMC students participate in mindfulness. Students are busier than ever nowadays and life doesn’t slow down
either during or after school. To equip our students for their university path and beyond, and enable them to better manage
the stresses of daily life, we incorporate mindfulness into the curriculum. The benefits are that our students can learn more
effectively and think more clearly. As a result, students feel balanced and more able to recognize and handle their emotions,
while skillfully responding to positive and negative situations in school, home and their communities. Studies on the brain
have proven, that mindfulness practice reliably improves the quality of thought, feeling and concern for others – all qualities we
seek to nurture in ISHCMC students.
