With females employees take up 72% of the company’s workforce, Allianz Malaysia Berhad put their own spin on International Women's Day with a host of fun-filled initiatives for employees and the public via its Facebook page. The celebration was kick-started with “Dear Lady”, a nationwide activity that incorporated a postman-like delivery service activity in which Allianz Malaysia employees were able to send a personalised message to women who inspire them in the office from their bosses to colleagues to even the tea lady. The two-pronged activity also saw all female employees being handed a special inspirational messages and ‘sweet’ tokens of appreciation. “The United Nation’s theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is ‘Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality’. At Allianz Malaysia, we wanted to put a spin on it and honour all the mothers, daughters, sisters and grandmothers that are a beacon of light in their own right. We hoped that our activity would brighten up their day, motivate and inspire them to keep breaking the mould,” said Joannica Dass, Head of Corporate Communications, Allianz Malaysia Berhad. On Facebook, the Allianz Heeltastic Challenge called for a role-reversal! The time had come for men everywhere to put aside their loafers and sport shoes and experience what it felt like to be in a woman’s shoes, or heels to be exact. All they had to do was take a photo of themselves in high heels, striking a captivating pose and upload the photo in a reply to Allianz Malaysia’s 5 March 2016’s post announcing the challenge (www.facebook.com/AllianzMalaysia/), as a sign of appreciation and support to women everywhere. The best three entries would win a hi-tea for two at Majestic Hotel. “Actions speak louder than words and we felt that nothing screamed support for women like the opposite gender donning a bold pair of heels in conjunction with International Women’s Day. We want to inspire people to live in the moment, do something out of the ordinary and possibly share a few laughs. Plus, it’s a great way to engage with our Facebook fans,” added Joannica.
