Course Overview Course Title Marketing I Course description This course introduces the fundamentals and foundations of business and marketing. We will begin with an exploration surrounding the concept of marketing and what it is. The course expands on basic principles of business topics including economics, international business, ethics and salesmanship. Students will engage in a number of project based learning opportunities surrounding these topics. The topics covered in this course and throughout the Business and Marketing curriculum help to prepare students for an entry level Business 101 course at the college or university level. Students will create their own marketing plan surrounding a topic of their choice and in doing so learn what is like to be part of a marketing team or simply act as a 21st century entrepreneur. In addition, students will this course provides an opportunity for involvement in Nonnewaug’s DECA chapter, including the operation of the NHS school Store. This organization, run by NHS marketing students, sponsors field trips, conference, competitions, fundraisers and community events throughout the year. Upon completion of this introductory course, students are eligible to enroll in Marketing II and the Internship in marketing in future academic years.
