The purpose of this statement is to provide a quick reference for the capabilities
of OSL's Systems team, Capability and Capacity.
The OSL Rail Systems Engineering Section was established as part of the
OSL organisation in 2012 to provide Railway signalling systems technical and
project delivery support and consultancy services to clients in the UK and
internationally. We have worked on a range of Rail industry projects including:

OSL is able to provide the following Systems T&C
management services:
• S ystems testing management of client and/ or
OSL Systems testing teams by licensed TIC
(1.3.190 Mod 1E);
• Test documentation production and checking.
We are able to offer a service where OSL can act
as Systems Integrator and manage the interfaces
between various differing packages of work, for
example managing the integration of SSI data, PMux
modifications, TD alterations and Signalling design.

The OSL Systems team is able to provide the following
Systems testing services:
• S ystems software, site specific data and hardware
factory testing;
• Site installation verification, set to work, site
acceptance and integration testing of modified or
new systems such as TD, TDM, PMux and VDU
Control Systems;
• Commissioning and post-commissioning testing and
technical support;
• E RTMS Technical support.
OSL are also an approved IRSE Assessing Agency with
a dedicated Training Academy as par t of a long-term
plan to tackle industry competence shor tages.

By utilising the existing OSL Signalling design team and working together with
equipment suppliers, we are able to offer a complete Signalling systems design
capability ranging from modifications to existing installed systems through to
complete TD, TDM or other systems purchased from third party suppliers.

We currently employ a small team, across a range of

(1.3.260)/ Signalling Functional Testers (1.3.170) and
Test Assistants (1.3.150).
We have experience in working with a wide range of

Due to the shortage of Railway Signalling Systems
Engineers throughout the Rail industry, OSL are
actively looking at ways to provide additional skilled
resources from other industries and train them to
meet the rail industry requirements. Working with
universities and colleges we are also looking to
train new entrants to provide resources for the
long-term benefit of OSL and the Rail industry,
ensuring a stable resource pool for the future.
