Stainless steel pressure gauge indicating the pressure in the reservoir. The air compressor is started/ stopped by a factory set, sealed pressure switch, which drives a 15-amp relay used to apply power to the air compressor. The pressure switch value i s set based on the amount of liquid level control specified by the customer. These values cannot be changed in the field. If for some reason you want to change the pressure settings Ingram will sell you any one of the four switched listed in table below. The cost for a new pressure switch is $5.00. More is not better when determining what the maximum liquid level that needs to be measured and controlled. The higher pressure settings are harder on both the motor and compressor. For example, a BASTT40 set to measure 0 to 10 feet of liquid level will have a longer life than one set to measure 0 to 40 feet of liquid level. B. Stainless steel pressure gauge indicating the amount of pressure applied to the air flow meter and to the bubbler tube. (The amount of pressure that is required to equal the liquid level in feet with a generous safety factor.) For example it requires 0.432 PSI to equal one foot of water. You will require 4.32 PSI to indicate and control 10 feet of water. The recommended setting for the 0 to 10 feet range is six PSI. This pressure setting should be slightly lower than the “Start Pump Pressure”listed in the table above. C. Adjustable pressure regulator used to set the bubbler air pressure indicated on pressure gauge “B”. It can be adjusted by pulling the knob out. Turning the knob to the right increases pressure, to the left reduces pressure. D. Airflow meter calibrated in SCFH. (Standard Cubic Feet of air per Hour). The less air used by the bubbler the less the air compressor will run and the longer it will last. You don’t need a constant flow of bubbles - if a bubble escapes the bubbler tube every two to five minutes while the liquid is at maximum level you have good air flow. For the BASTT40, we recommend that the airflow volume be set a 0.5 SCFH when no level is being measured. The airflow will decrease as the liquid level increases. NOTE: If the bubbler tube diameter is small and the amount air flowing through it is too great get a false high readings due to the dynamic backpressure caused by too much airflow. you will E. Needle valve incorporated into the air flow meter. It is used to adjust the amount of airflow to the bubbler tube. F. Table of recommended settings for pressure and flow for the four different ranges of liquid level the BASTT40 is designed for. G. Mounting holes (4) designed for use with four 8-32 pan head screws. H. Barbed fittings for use with 1/8-inch ID tubing connections. They are clearly labelled for “SUPPLY AIR IN” and “BUBBLER AIR OUT”. Included with the BASTT40 bubbler air supply is a pneumatic connection kit with the necessary tubing and connectors needed to make all necessary connections. The following items are included in the pneumatic connection kit: • (1) 25 ft. roll of urethane tubing, ¼-inch O.D. by 1/8-inch I.D. for use with 1/8 inch barbed fitting. • (4) ¼-inch NPT pipe thread to 1/8-inch ID tubing. • (2) 1/8-inch NPT pipe thread to 1/8-inch ID tubing. • (1) ¼-inch NPT female T fitting to be used at the junction where the bubbler tube, bubbler air supply and pressure sensing device come together. • (1) 1/8-inch barbed T fitting intended to be used to connect the air compressor to the air tank.
