Victor Constant Ski Slope
Rte. 218
West Point, NY 10996
Recreational skiing at West Point has been
a cherished tradition for over 60 years. In
1936, skiing was first attempted at USMA
on a primitive ski slide at Delafield Pond.
Three years later, the first trail was cut
through the woods at Silver Deposit Hill,
later named Victor Constant Ski Slope
for Army Captain Victor Constant, who
was instrumental in developing skiing at
West Point. During the 1940’s, several ski
runs and the first rope tow were added, a
rustic log cabin with a warming stove was
built, and the ski club and ski patrol were
formed.
