It’s the lower bills that will surprise you the most
With all this extra comfort you would
expect it to come with a price tag
but as its heating your house from
the floor up across the entire room it
takes less heat to make the room feel
warmer than it does with radiators.
Underfloor heating operates at an
energy efficient 35-40°C compared
to 80°C for radiators. This lower operating temperature allows your heat
source to run more efficiently particularly if it is a condensing boiler.

homes. With Joule’s extensive range of underfloor heating solutions there is a system for your project.
Whether you are renovating a part of your house, adding a kitchen or building from scratch there is a type of
underfloor heating system that will work for you.
You can lay your underfloor heating within a solid floor
In circumstances where you need to insulate in between
joists sometimes it is easier and the quickest to use pregrooved insulation boards cut to fit between your joists.
This board both holds the pipe in place and provides the
insulation that is required.

Rapid Rail and Clip
Underfloor Heating System
This is the most common system installed in new build
properties where the screed is being laid. The installer
simply covers the insulation boards with polyurethane
sheets, removes the sticky cover on the back of the rapid rails and then lays them out parallel to one of the walls
keeping one meter between each row. They then lay the
pipe down on to the surface clipping it to the rails as it
passes over the rails in a configuration detailed in the
installation instructions provided.
This system is quick and easy to install. It works best
where insulation thickness is not sufficient to allow clips
to penetrate relying on the rail only to hold the pipe
down. The rail gives ready measured spacings.

Clip Only
Underfloor Heating System
This is identical to the rapid rail and clip system only it
does not use the rapid rails. This means that you must
work out the spacings manually. Normally to use this
method a staple gun is a good idea as there will be a
high volume of staples to fix to keep all the pipe secure
to the insulation.

Aluminium Spreader Plate
System
The aluminium spreader plate system is an ideal solution
for a suspended timber floor both upstairs or downstairs.
The spreader plates fix to the joists and have pre formed
channels built in to take the pipe and also help radiate
the heat from the pipe to the space above it. The finished
floor can be laid directly over the spreader plates.
The spreader plates are made to fit between standard
400mm joist centres. Both edges of the plates are simply
fixed to either joist and this process is repeated along
the entire run of joist and across the whole area being
covered by the underfloor heating system.

Joule Multilayer Aluminium
Pert/Al/Pert Pipe
The Joule pert/al/pert multilayer aluminium barri-
ered pipe is manufactured using a 5 layer technology. It has an aluminium middle layer that protects
the pipe from accidental damage during installation
and prolongs it’s use over the life span of the system. The pipe comes in coils ranging from 50 meters to 500 meters.
• To prove the quality of our European manufactured pipe we have Kiwa certification
• MULTI-PEX pipe manufactured according to EN
ISO 15875
• EVOH layer oxygen barrier in accordance with
DIN 4726
• Operational range - 90°C max @ 6 bar, constant

Joule Touchscreen Digital
Underfloor Heating Controls
The newly launched Joule Touchscreen Thermal Stat is a state-of-the-art solution to use in
every underfloor heating system. You can use
the top and bottom buttons on the left hand
side of the stat to change the room temperature
up and down. The top right button is where you
program in your time periods and the bottom
right button is where you turn it off.
JOULE UNDERFLOOR
This stat requires a 3-core cable between
the wiring centre and each stat location
Wiring Diagram
The Joule stat is deisgned to be flush mounted
so it must be fitted to a single gang back box
which will be installed during first fix.
The stat is a a 240V mains stat and as such
requires a 3-core insulated cable to be installed
connecting the stat to the wiring center.

Joule Dial Type Thermostat
The Joule dial-type Thermostat is our simplistic
and easy to use offering for underfloor heating. By simply turning the wheel in either direction you can change the room temperature set
point to your desired temperature.
