International Umpires will be assigned to umpiring at World Championship Level. Applications will be reviewed periodically, (see DEADLINES below) and notification to attend the “ISF International Umpire” Seminar in Plant City will be forwarded if approved. A. 1. EXPERIENCE FOR ISF INTERNATIONAL LEVEL: Must have umpired in at least three (3) national or regional championships, two (2) of which must have been in the same category of play and from the national championship list below: FAST PITCH: Men’s Major, Women’s Major, Men’s Master 40-Over, Girls 18-Under Gold, Men’s “A” or Women’s “A”. SLOW PITCH: Men’s Super, Men’s Major, Women’s Major, Men’s Industrial Major, Men’s “A”, or Women’s “A”, Men’s “A” Industrial MODIFIED PITCH: Men’s Major, Women’s Major, or Men’s “A”. D. PROBATIONARY OR INACTIVE STATUS Any conduct by an umpire unbecoming of the standards of the ISF INTERNATIONAL umpire (on or off the field) could result in that individual being placed on probationary status. E. ASSIGNMENTS An umpire approved in one category (Fast Pitch, Slow Pitch, or Modified Pitch) at the “International” level cannot be assigned to Games in any of the other two categories. If approved in two categories, the umpire can be assigned in either. F. 1. APPLICTION FORM Application forms may be obtained from the ISF office (1900 S. Park Road, Plant City, FL 33566-8113, Tel. 1-813-8640111) or the ASA office (2801 NE 50th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73111-7203, Tel 1-405-425-3446). Only current application forms will be accepted. The applicant and the State/Metro Commissioner, must sight the application form. Applications which do not have the required signatures or do not meet the qualifications outlined under experience, will be returned with the application fee. The application must be accompanied with a $50 fee. This will be refunded if the applicant does not qualify to apply for Seminar. If received past a deadline, the applicant will be notified that the fee and application will be held until the next Seminar. If the applicant for “ISF International Umpire” successfully passes the Seminar, an additional $50 fee is required to be paid for Certification as “International Umpire” materials, including the ISF membership card, pin, diploma and cap. NOTE: Class “A” in Modified, Fast Pitch and Slow Pitch and the MM40FP and G18-UFPG, must be combined with one “MAJOR” national championship in their classification. 1. For Certification as “ISF International Umpire” the applicant MUST have been an ASA registered umpire for at least seven (7) years, and a current member in good standing. 2. It is recommended that the applicant have attended an ASA National Umpire School. 3. An umpire may be approved in more than one (1) category of play (Fast Pitch, Slow Pitch, or Modified Pitch), but must attend and pass a seminar for each category to be approved. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. B. 1. 2. VERIFICATION Must be a current registered and active member of the ASA umpire program. Must be in good standing with the local association. The state/metro commissioner where the umpire is registered, must sign the application. NOTE: Verification should not be made by the commissioner, if items A-B/1-4 under EXPERIENCE are not achieved. C. EXPENSES All expenses incurred while attending an ISF Seminar (travel, housing, meals, etc.) are to be paid by the applicant. (See also items 3-6). G. PHOTOS Applications must include three (3) passport size photos attached. H. DEADLINES Applications will be accepted year round. Seminars are planned annually in Fast Pitch, Slow Pitch, and Modified Pitch. Notification of acceptance will allow plenty of notice to make plans to attend.
