New products for Practical Science on show at the ASE Annual Conference, Birmingham University, January 2007 This handout has been produced by CLEAPSS® as a free service to its members and others attending the ASE Annual Conference at Birmingham University in January 2007. It is hoped that it will allow those with limited time to focus on those exhibitors with something new and interesting. It will also appear on the CLEAPSS web site. The only products listed here are those which are both new and significant and which support the teaching of practical science – equipment, kits, biological materials, laboratory furniture and services, etc. For this reason most books, wall charts and similar paper resources are not listed. CDROMs and other software are also excluded except for datalogging, stock control and similar items supporting practical science. CLEAPSS has not examined or tested most of the items listed or the item may have been changed after we saw a prototype model. The information is based on details supplied by the exhibitor. The comments are theirs, not those of CLEAPSS, although we have edited some entries. We can take no responsibility if the information is inaccurate or the product unsafe or inappropriate. However, CLEAPSS would welcome comments from members on any of the items - some of these might be incorporated in a future newsletter for schools. The leaflet has been produced with the cooperation of manufacturers, suppliers and exhibitors. We thank them for their help. Known exhibitors were approached during the autumn and asked to send us information about any new products they were exhibiting. If, inadvertently, we have missed any relevant exhibitors, we apologise. Some exhibitors are missing from the lists. This is because either they have nothing relevant which is new, or because they failed to respond to our letter by the deadline. A few exhibitors sent information about products which appeared to be outside our definition of new, significant and supporting practical science and we have not included them. As relatively few of the items listed are likely to be of interest to primary schools, these have been highlighted in the final column (but note that some of these may also be of interest to secondary schools).
