WSY National Team Meeting November 20, 2002 Attendees: Mike Gobrecht, Chris Luttermoser, Tina Navitsky, Alan Court, Carol Slack, Cynthia Goldsmith, Cindy Stine, John Butler, Deb Barr, Myra Gons, Denise Soisson, Nancy Lengler, Barb Toran The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM. The meeting was adjourned at 8:04. 1. Changes in minutes: Deb Barr has is the Co-Chair for the clothing sale. Alan Court and Tina Navitsky are the Co-Chairs for the hot dog sale. 2. If a swimmer has pre-qualified for Nationals, you should deposit money into your account. 3. Nationals Information: a. Swimmers can qualify for Short Course Nationals in SCY, SCM, or LCM. This also applies to Long Course Nationals. The meets that count as qualifying times are Y Meets and high school meets. If using times from a high school dual meet, Mike needs a legible copy of the meet results signed by the meet referee. Mike will take care of qualifying times achieved at Mid-Penns, Districts, or States. b. The costs are available for Short Course Nationals. Mike will have the costs for Long Course Nationals available in January. c. For the swimmers who attended the 2002 Long Course Nationals, their $50.00 incidental fee was not refunded. They will be credited $50.00 for the 2003 Short Course meet. d. Parents should look into purchasing tickets for Short Course Nationals on their own. They will get a much better airfare rate. e. A possible hotel site for the parents is the Yankee Clipper. The team hotel is right behind this hotel. f. The swim dates of Nationals are April 14-17 (Mon. - Thurs.). g. Times can be used through States as qualifying times. h. Long Course Nationals are from July 28-31 (Mon. - Thurs.). i. For LC Nationals, Mike would like to leave for the meet on Saturday so that the team can practice on Sunday. j. To qualify for LC Nationals, the swimmer must swim on a summer Y team; cannot swim on local club teams. k. Swimmers can swim in 4 events at Short Course and Long Course Nationals. 4. Fundraising: a. Make use of the Giant coupons; Sandy will have a list of each family's account activity at the end of the year. b. In order for swimmers to receive funds from the National account, parents must chair or co-chair a fundraising committee. c. Poinsettas/Wreaths: There is a $2.00 profit for each poinsettia sold. Credits for the wreaths are $2.25-$2.50. Money from poinsettia sold to Y families goes into the general fund. There is also a burgandy-colored poinsettia available. d. Sub Sale: The subs are priced the same as last year until January 2003. The prices will then go up $.10 for each 8" sub. The tentative date of the first sub sale is December 9 or 10. The subs will sell for $3.00; the team buys them for $1.60 each and the profit is $1.40 per sub. Last year approximately $425.00 profit was made for the team from both sub sales. The sub sale hours are 11:30 am. - 7:00 PM. e. Clothing Sale: the info about the ski hat sale is on the web site as well as the family files. The team makes $4.00 profit per hat. This goes into the General Fund for the National Team. f. Mother's Day Flower Sale: a possible co-chair is Nancy Lengler. g. Chicken BBQ: Chris Luttermoser will co-chair with Denise Soisson. The best time to have the BBQ is in the early spring. Mike said that we can sell the BBQ at the outdoor pool as long as we don't compete with the concession stand. h. Hot Dog Sales: Possible sale dates were given to Alan and Tina. We are required to purchase a 100 pound minimum of hot dogs and sausages at a cost of $200.00 per 100 pounds. The team needs to provide all of the other supplies and condiments. i. Last Chance Meet: The WSY host’s the Last Chance Meet, which is the last chance to qualify for Districts. The National Team runs the Concession Stand. Mike will have the date at the December meeting. The co-chairs for this committee are Tina Navitsky and Cindy Stine. j. PA State T-shirts: it is projected that the team will sell about 200 shirts as a profit of $2.00 per shirt. This would give the team a $400.00 profit. k. PA Beach Party at SC Nationals: Be there or be square. The WSY hosted this last year at the cost of $8.00 per person. The profit was approximately $550.00. This year the picnic will be held on Thursday, April 17. The cost will be $9.00-$10.00 per person. Mike's projection is that the team will make $900.00 profit. 5. The next meeting of the National Team will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18.
