Prodigy® Wired Keypad

1Introduction
The Prodigy® P-CBI-WIRED is an elegant yet robust in-wall
keypad providing simple direct control of lighting, audio source
selection and volume. Whether installed in a retrofit or new
construction, the P-CBI-WIRED provides a low-cost interface
solution, bringing the benefits of whole house audio distribution
to any budget.

Application
The following diagram illustrates a P-CBI-WIRED in a
system with other Prodigy devices.

Assembly
The P-CBI-WIRED is supplied partially assembled along with
several items as listed in the following table.

1. Make sure the light masks are correctly positioned. The light masks will not fall
out of their locations, but can easily be removed and/or relocated as necessary.
2. Attach the button strips to the housing assembly according to the way the unit is
programmed. The button strips are held in place by three mounting posts.

When using two- or three-button cap strips, remove the extra
light masks. Use one light mask for two-button strips, two masks
for three-button strips, and five masks for six-button strips.
(Retain the extra light masks in case the keypad is
reprogrammed for a different configuration.) Refer to the
illustration in the following column.

3. If the button strips need to be changed or replaced, insert a flat blade screwdriver into the notches provided and carefully pry the button strip up and off the
mounting posts.
4. Using the Phillips screwdriver, attach the mounting plate to the electrical box as
shown in the illustration below.
Light masks are used to reduce the backlight intensity between
the buttons. The housing assembly is shipped with light masks
in place for two six-button cap strips.

Use the following procedure to connect the keypad to the Prodigy
system.
1. Turn control network power OFF.
2. Connect the control network cable to the keypad’s NET port as
shown in the following diagram.

Troubleshooting
Use the Prodigy Composer software to configure
your Prodigy system (refer to the online help for
detailed information).
The following table provides corrective action for possible trouble
situations. If further assistance is required, please contact a
Crestron customer service representative.
NOTE: The Prodigy Composer software is
available for download from
www.crestron.com/prodigycomposer.

2. In the Processor step of the wizard, connect
to the PMCI2. The wizard automatically detects
the PMCI2.
a. In the list of devices, click the
P-CBI-WIRED device to be configured.

Click Touch Device. All LEDs on the
keypad blink. Touch any button on the
keypad. The LEDs stop blinking, and
the correct serial number is
automatically configured.

Improper Net ID is used.
Verify that the Net ID
matches the Net ID in
the software program.
Check the Crestron website periodically for manual update availability
and its relevance. Updates are identified as an “Addendum” in the
Download column.

Verify that the cable connected
to the NET port is secure.
As Crestron improves functions, adds new features and extends the
capabilities of the P-CBI-WIRED, additional information may be made
available as manual updates. These updates are solely electronic and
serve as intermediary supplements prior to the release of a complete
technical documentation revision.
After serial numbers are configured, the Net ID of
each P-CBI-WIRED in the system is automatically
configured in the System Setup step of the wizard.

A loose connection

2. Attach the bezel by putting it in position over the button caps and
snapping it in place.
3. Turn control network power ON.

Verify that the cable plugged
into the NET port is secure.
You can also log onto the online help section of the Crestron website
(www.crestron.com/onlinehelp) to ask questions about Crestron products.
First-time users will need to establish a user account to fully benefit from
all available features.

The keypad is not
receiving power, or is
receiving insufficient
power.
If you cannot locate specific information or have questions after reviewing
this guide, please take advantage of Crestron's award winning customer
service team by calling Crestron at 1-888-CRESTRON [1-888-273-7876].
Select the serial number from the
drop-down list, and then click
Assign Serial. The serial number
selected must match the serial number
labeled on the side of the keypad.
4. Repeat step 3 above for each keypad in the
system.

CAUTION: Excess wire pinched between the keypad and
electrical box could cause a short circuit. Make sure that all
excess wire is completely inside the electrical box and not
between the box and the keypad.

Use the following procedure to install the keypad in an electrical box.
1. Push the wires into the electrical box and use the Phillips
screwdriver to attach the keypad assembly to the mounting plate
as shown in the following illustration.

1. Launch the Prodigy Network Setup Wizard,
which is included within Prodigy Composer.
3. In the Device Matching step of the wizard,
configure the serial number of the P-CBI-WIRED
as follows:
NOTE: Do not connect the INPUT port.
