The field trips are a really cool mix of Korean and international culture, plus time to get to know your new friends. The students I met formed really strong bonds with each other, regardless of nationality, and some of them are now studying abroad with friends they met in CNU ISS-2013. This is high-impact international exchange, the kind that will change your life forever. It will open your eyes to the beauties and the hard realities of other cultures. I only wish I had done CNU I SS when I was in college." Peter Thommesen University of Missouri-Columbia, USA "I think of CNU's ISS as maybe the most magical month of my life. I was able to spend four weeks in Korea, a new and exciting and dynamically changing country, studying, learning, and exploring, all the while making new friends and experiencing entirely unique life events. Every moment of my time in Korea was filled with adventure and excitement as we took field trips to mountaintop Buddhist temples, mud festivals, world expos, traditional villages, big cities, and spent all of our down time exploring the vast array of opportunities found just in the city of Gwangju itself. The staff of the ISS were incredibly hospitable and kind. I can say that after participating in CNU ISS I have gained summer credits furthering my academic career, seen more of a new country in one month than most people see in years of exploration, and developed incredibly close friendships with people from around the entire world. The lifetime of memories I gained from this trip are more than I can repay, and I hope that everyone who is able to may partake of this program." Katria Alampay University of the Philippines, Philippines "Every Single day I was at CNU, I was happy. I wish I could have documented every minute of it. Every day I got to try new Korean food, talk to someone different, or learn something meaningful about different cultures. I enjoyed experiencing Korean culture and witnessing the beauty of Korea during the cultural trips every weekend. My favorite was to the Mud Festival because all the international students and buddies were very close already and we got to have fun together by the beach. But the most memorable trip was probably the Temple Stay because we all got to have such a foreign experience together for the first time. I always miss my time in Gwangju, especially all the food and getting to have so many cool experiences in Korea both during the program and just by ourselves. CNU ISS gave me much more than just that one month. I gained memories, friends, and stories that I will treasure always."
