For those of you who don’t know, Christian Loch, Kurt Loch’s son, has been very ill for
more than 3 weeks. He started with Pneumonia which turned into the flu (the H1N1 virus). His
heart is presently only functioning at 15%. He is in an induced coma and on a ventilator. He
was recently transferred from Bethlehem to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in
Philadelphia.
Christian is married and has an 18 month old daughter. His wife has had to give up their
home and has moved in with her parents. Christian is now on family leave, which means there
is no income for Christian.
The proceeds from this Dress Down Day will be used to help support Christian and his
family during this very difficult time. With our support, we may be able, in some small way, to
help alleviate the anxiety and worry because of Christian’s illness.
Your generous donation of at least $1.00 for this Dress Down Day should be paid to the
homeroom teacher either on or before Friday, March 14th. Please send the money to school in
an envelope marked with the student’s name, grade and “Dress Down Day”. If you have any
questions about Dress Down Day, please contact Mrs. Hopper, 8A or your child’s homeroom
teacher.
Listed below are some guidelines for this Dress Down Day:
Shirts to be worn MUST NOT contain any inappropriate logos, phrases or images.
Jeans or sweatpants may be worn, but they must be worn at the waist and should not be baggy. Notre
Dame gym pants can also be worn.
Flannel pants, pajama bottoms, jeggings or leggings are not allowed to be worn.
Hats and costume headbands MAY NOT be worn.
Shoes: Students may wear their Notre Dame regulation gym sneakers or school shoes only.
Clothing must be modest, clean and neat looking upon entering the school. No holes, rips, or tears are
permitted in any garment.
No shorts of any kind are allowed.
All accessories (i.e. hair or jewelry) worn must meet the criteria specified in the Notre Dame dress code.
Students having gym class on this day will be allowed to wear their dress down attire for gym.
Thursday, March 6th
Donations from this Dress Down Day will help sponsor our parish teens on a service trip to
Pittsburgh this summer!!!
There are EXCITED teens from our very own F.I.A.T. Parish Youth Group who will be part of
this mission trip. It's a great opportunity for them to serve others and grow in their faith. Please
know that the donation you provide for this Dress Down Day will help to pay for their
registration. They will attend the Catholic Heart Work Camp and be working with both inner
city and suburban senior homes in need of minor home repairs and painting as well as outdoor
projects. To find out more information about this project, you may go to
http://www.heartworkcamp.com

WHEN:
Homework help is offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
afternoon from 3-4 pm throughout the year. (Updates will be posted each week on
the Weekly Communication site on our website as to any schedule changes.)
SEE BELOW.
WHY:
Homework hour gives students the opportunity to work on their written homework
and/or study for tests under the supervision of a teacher from the Notre Dame
faculty. A teacher is available to help answer student questions and guide them in
organization, time management, and study skills. Our goal is to help lighten the
load for the children and their families when they go home. They may bring a snack
along in case they get hungry.
COST:
The fee for homework hour is $7 per day (cash only, please).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Students are to be picked up at 4pm in the upper parking lot.
If their normal dismissal is to extended care, they will be taken
there at that time . Students will be dismissed near the St.
Joseph’s room door. No student will be allowed to leave unless
picked up by an authorized adult.
To register for homework hour, please detach the bottom of this form and return it to the
attention of Mrs. Weiss (6A).

Lacrosse Interest Sheet
Your child was recently given a brief presentation/introduction to a spring sport, lacrosse, for
which Notre Dame Elementary school is interested in developing a new program. If you feel
your child has shown an interest, and/or you would like to find out more information, please
have your child return this completed form. We feel that lacrosse, a feverishly growing sport
not only in the nation, but especially in our own Lehigh Valley, would be a phenomenal
alternative and/or adjunct to your child’s athletic and developmental maturity. In addition, if
you would be interested in assisting with the development of our program, whether it is on an
administrative or coaching level, please let us know below. Youth lacrosse is not a difficult sport
to learn about, and coaching lacrosse at a youth level can be tremendously fulfilling.
By completing this form, your child is not committing to joining a lacrosse team. We are only
looking for levels of interest at this point. Lacrosse and its’ time commitment would be
analogous to any other typical sport in the spring. If you want more information about lacrosse,
you may also visit its’ national organizational body’s website at www.uslacrosse.org. FYI,
lacrosse is in the lower 2/3 of significant injury categories compared with all other sports.

March 4, 2014 PBS39, ASR Media Productions and Roey’s Paintbox Parties are pleased to announce a new television series, Roey’s Paintbox – Art is for Everyone, debuting on PBS39 this Friday, March 7th at 3:30 pm. The creative arts series is designed to educate, motivate and inspire students through painting. Instructor, Roey Ebert, taps into the viewer’s inner artist and demonstrates how they can paint and create art. The eight-‐episode television show offers step-‐by-‐step instructions, introduces artistic vocabulary and concepts and also familiarizes the viewer with different creative techniques, art history and local artists. Students from your school participated in the creation of the series and can be seen in one or more of the episodes!! Please share this exciting news with your school families and remind them to watch the show every Friday in March! If you are interested in adding the DVD series to your curriculum or after-‐school programs, please contact Maggie Prorok at (610) 216-‐5834.
