Nurse Practitioner Stacy Tomberlin Selected for AANP Future Leaders Program Tulsa, Oklahoma (8/29/14) – The American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the largest national professional membership organization for nurse practitioners (NPs) of all specialties, is pleased to announce that Stacy Tomberlin has been selected to participate in the prestigious AANP Future Leaders Program. The newly launched 12-‐month program is designed to develop the next generation of NP leaders through a variety of initiatives that will provide a broad vision of the NP role in the current and future health care environment. Those selected for the program are relatively early in their NP careers, serving in clinical, administrative, and education roles, with demonstrated potential to assume increasing national leadership both within AANP and throughout the nation. Stacy Tomberlin currently works as a family nurse practitioner serving many Tulsa employers including Melton Truck Lines, the River Spirit Casino, ONEOK, and T.D. Williamson. During her career, she has also made a local impact in the areas of neurology, community health and retail medicine. Graduating at the top of her class, she completed her doctorate of nursing practice degree at Oklahoma City University, and has since worked to become a practice-‐leading agent of quality healthcare improvement. Her doctoral work involved improving the management of type II diabetes in a Tulsa and Oklahoma City group medical practice. Her past leadership experiences include mentoring nurse practitioner students through the University of Oklahoma and helping facilitate a partnership between the Laura Dester shelter and the University of Oklahoma. Stacy Tomberlin will join 17 other participants in early October for an initial two-‐day formal training focusing on leadership development and other components of the program.
