On behalf of the Meet Referee Jack Dowling and the Orlando Lead
Team,
You are invited to WORK the Southern Zone South SECTIONALS
Championship at the YMCA, Orlando on July 9-12th.
This meet is an international FINA qualifier and looks to be among some of the fastest swimming the
south has seen this summer. Top athletes in the country and beyond will be competing and YOU are a
part of helping make that successful and will be welcomed on deck for whatever session/s you
can do!
Besides lots of fun and meeting new friends
and reacquainting with old ones, you will be able to practice,
refine, and sharpen your officiating skills and learn something
new to take back with you at your regular LSC meets!
Below is the some info including the Briefing schedule and OQM info for this meet.
While we would love to have your expertise for the entire meet, your service of only a session or two
would be a significant help too.
Because this INVITE is going to MANY around the southern zone, Please respond ONLY if you can commit to any sessions- EMAIL your completed application to J2Dowling@gmail.com and copy to

Reminder: No apprentice hours can be done at any of the LSC and Sectional
Championship Meets OFFICIALS BRIEFING'S SCHEDULE for SECTIONALS:
Each of the 7 mandatory informative Officials Briefings are 1 hour prior to each session.
(Session length timelines available after July 4th weekend depending on flighting, chase
starts, and entries)
-THURSDAY Timed FINALS, FRIDAY & SATURDAY FINALS:
Officials Briefing 4:00pm Session Start: 5:00pm
-SUNDAY FINALS: Officials Briefing 3:00pm Session Start:
4:00pm
-FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY PRELIMS: Officials Briefing 8:00am
Session starts 9:00am
CERTIFIED NATIONAL OFFICIAL QUALIFYING
MEET (OQM):
This meet has been approved as an Officials Qualifying Meet for all N2 and N3
positions for those desiring certification above the LSC level; note that national
certification is NOT required to work this meet, but the opportunity for evaluation is
available if you should desire to learn more and potentially advance your certification level.
Most everyone applying for this meet is eligible for national level Stroke and Turn
Certification if they work 4 (or more) sessions during the meet and submit a request for
evaluation working with one of the national mentors.
- “Request for Evaluation” form for this can be found on the 2015 SZSS event page link on
the FL Swim website. Reminder: To receive a valid National Evaluation for
higher level certifications, you will need to apply and work 4 or more
sessions during the meet - see the other requirements listed in
the Professional Officials documents on the USA Swimming website.
- To learn more about National Certification, review the information
at National Official Certification Summary on the USA Swimming website.
UNIFORM for SZSS:
- Uniform for the meet will be white polo shirt over navy pants or skirts. Shorts are OK for
any session. White footwear is also required.
- An Officials Social will take place after Finals on Friday evening but there will be other
times posted in the briefing room for officials get togethers.
