Mechanical stitching within the unique lid to tray locking system gives strength and integrity to the panels design. The panels have a galvanised steel bottom tray with an out turned profile. The steel lid is then rolled around the lower profile creating a locked, double layer of steel. The unique design of Fortress means that the panels achieve a variety of classifications. The Fortress panel meets BSEN 12825 Classes 5A3, 3A3 and 2A3 when used with the Eurodek® HD and XD range of pedestals and PSA MOB PF2 PS/SPU – medium grade. Eurodek® Fortress Lock screwdown panels are also available, providing extra security where required and greater integrity for high voids. All panels are supplied bare to accept an appropriate loose lay finish. The chipboard sourced for the Fortress range of panels has FSC® Chain of Custody certification. Supplied both cut to size or in slab form, the fire barrier is suitable for voids between 15mm and 1000mm and can provide up to 120 minutes fire resistance, preventing the passage of flame and smoke through the void. Eurodek’s Fire Barrier also has acoustic properties to reduce flanking transmission of sound through the void by at least 9dB. Where the barrier is installed beneath a partition line into an imperforate timber based access floor system of at least 30mm thickness, with floor covering over, the room to room sound reduction on the path of the fire barrier will be at least 45dB. Performance advantages 1. Subdivision of large uninterrupted cavities. i) To comply with Building Regulations – 30 minutes integrity plus 15 minutes insulation. ii) To comply with LPC Design Guides – 30 minutes integrity plus 30 minutes insulation. 2. Alignment under a partition, to maintain partition rating. i) 30 minute partition – 30 minutes integrity plus 30 minutes insulation. ii) 60 minute partition – 60 minutes integrity plus 60 minutes insulation. iii) 120 minute partition – 120 minutes integrity plus 120 minutes insulation. BSEN Specification This specification is now recognised as a British Standard – BSEN 12825, approved by CEN as a voluntary specification for private projects and mandatory public projects. BSEN specification classifies Raised Access Floors based on the load at which failure occurs, referred to as the ultimate load. This classification is also based on a chosen safety factor and deflection under working load. For example a class 3A3 panel means 3 = Ultimate Load – the point at which the system would collapse A = Deflection Class 3 = Safety Factor BSEN classification is based upon the panel’s actual structural performance and not against pre-set criteria as per the PSA specification. PSA Specification The PSA specification is a long established performance standard used by the Property Services Agency and now referred to as MOB PF2 PS/SPU outlining grades of raised access floor, light, medium and heavy. The PSA specification outlines a method of test for structural performance. This ensures compliance and provides guidance as to the working areas where each floor grade may be used. Point Load and Uniformly Distributed Load are used here. Panel Finished Floor Height The load bearing, horizontal component of a Raised Access Floor system The finished floor height from the sub-floor, void height and panel thickness combined Sub-Floor The existing floor upon which a Raised Access Floor system is installed Pedestal The vertical, adjustable supporting component of a Raised Access Floor system Void The space between the underside of a raised access floor and the existing subfloor, sometimes referred to as the cavity or plenum www.accessfloors.net 19 Head Office Hillsborough Works Langsett Road Sheffield S6 2LW T: 0114 231 8030 F: 0114 231 8031 Find a Eurodek® stockist at www.accessfloors.net
