PRISMATIC SPRAY CAN TDS Technical Data Sheet Spray Can DESCRIPTION Prismatic is a holographic/rainbow effect paint, which comes alive in direct sunlight. Sunlight produces the best, truly intense colours. It also shows up well under certain indoor lights, for example high-­‐pressure sodium indoor lights. Different effects can be achieved by varying the amount of Prismatic used. For example, applying 1 light dustcoat over a black basecoat gives a delicate effect that shows up well against the black background. For the most intense effect, apply more coats to fully cover the black base, allowing the Prismatic to show off to it’s full, concentrated potential. COVERAGE 0.7 sqmt or 8 sqft per spray can Please note: The quoted figure may be decreased if the spray work is intricate and involves large amounts of over spray wastage. COLOUR AVAILABILITY Holographic/Rainbow MIXING Ready to spray POT LIFE Not Applicable – will keep in airtight container PREPARATION Prismatic is the mid-­‐coat, so any colour base coat can be utilised. For best results, apply over a fully cured 2K black gloss that has been lightly abraded. Ensure the 2K black gloss has fully cured -­‐ this process can take 7 days at 19oC for most types of paint systems. Failure to allow the base layer to fully cure will result in the paint surface crackling when Prismatic is applied. PRISMATIC SPRAY CAN TDS Alternately a smooth 2K black primer will suffice as long as it has been flatted to a good standard -­‐ the smoother and more evenly the Prismatic refracting crystals sit, the more intense the holographic effect. APPLICATION SHAKE SPRAY CAN FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES. Spray can should be approximately 250mm away from the surface. Apply in cross coats to achieve an even appearance. Allow 10 -­‐ 20 minutes flash time between coats. Each coat must be completely dry before applying the next coat. After use, turn the spray can upside down and empty the valve. FLASH TIME Allow flash off for 10 – 20 mins. TOPCOATING Topcoat with a good quality 2K clear coat product, if the clear is applied within 8 hours there is no need to key up the surface before applying the clear coat. If applying the clear coat more than 8 hours after applying Prismatic, lightly abrade the surface first to aid adhesion.
