Side Broom Tilt Pivot Bolt Inspection
Effects: Eagle E and F model Sweepers with Optional Power Tilt
Purpose: Provide inspection procedure and tightening instructions to ensure that the Pivot Bolts of the
Side Broom Tilt Assembly are securely installed.
NOTE: Inspect Pivots every 150 hours for wear, damage, and loose or missing parts.
ALWAYS REFER TO SAFETY SECTION IN OPERATORS MANUAL BEFORE STARTING WORK.
1. Look for excessive play (Fig.2) between the Tilt Head (Fig.1/24) and the Mounting Bracket (Fig.1/22).
Clean grease and debris from between the Head and Bracket before tightening loose pivot components.
2. If Compression Washers (Fig.1/27) are missing, replace them before tightening the Pivot Bolts (Fig.1/26)
NOTE: Compression Washers are installed with concave faces together.
3. If Jam Nuts (Fig.1/30) are missing or loose, tighten Pivot Bolts before tightening the nuts (Fig.4).
4. Replace any missing or damaged components and tighten Pivot Bolts. To tighten Pivot Bolts, it may be
necessary to remove the Side Broom Motor so that a torque wrench can be used. Sturtevant torque wrench
and 3/8 Allen Head adapter may be used without removing the motor.
5. Tighten the upper and lower Pivot Bolts. The shoulder

of the bolts should tighten securely against the
Mounting Bracket.
NOTE: Tighten Pivot Bolts to 115 lb-ft.
6. Install

NOTE: Tighten Jam Nuts to 75 lb-ft.

22 7. Re-install motor if previously removed. Lubricate the

broom tilt fitting and confirm correct tilt operation. If

the assembly will not move, replace the Pivot Bolt or
other damaged component.

Replace missing washers.
Tighten Pivot Bolts to 115 lb-ft.
Check tilt operation. Tilt Head
should move freely on Pivot Bolts.
JAM NUTS
Ensure that Pivot Bolt Jam
Nuts are present. If missing
or loose, tighten Pivot Bolts
before tightening the Nuts.
Tighten Jam Nuts to
75 lb-ft.
