FLOW CONTROL TRAINER
MODEL: SE 102
HE Flow Control Trainer (Model: SE 102) has been designed for students demonstration on various
types of flow measurement devices as well as to give the students a hands on experience on how a flow
loop can be controlled using microprocessor based controller. The equipment consists of industrial grade
instrumentation to exhibit a realistic working environment of a standard industrial flow process using various types of
measuring instruments and different kinds of control strategy.

The equipment is self-contained constructed on an
epoxy coated mild steel frame with four lockable castor
wheels. The instrumentation and valves are strategically
located for easy access. For safety reasons, the control
panel is protected against water splashes. The process
piping are made of industrial pipes.

found in the equipment. A mimic diagram is also included
showing the flow of the process.
PROCESS DESCRIPTION
The system exhibits realistic response times using
standard industrial process instruments widely used in
industries.
All electrical wiring is laid in flexible PVC conduit and
instrument cables are screened. Individual starters to

The SOLTEQ flow Control trainer (Model: SE 102) has
been designed for student experiments on the
measurement and control of water flow. It is constructed
on an epoxy coated steel frame with lockable castor
wheels.

A pump is provided for transferring the water from a
sump tank through a pneumatic control valve before
passing through a flow metering devices. A rotameter
is installed or local indication of the water flow rate. The
water circuit includes three parallel pipes, each with
isolation hand valves and a flow metering device. Three
flow metering devices, namely standard orifice plate,
venturi meter, and magnetic flow meter are supplied. A
calibration tank is provided for the purpose of flow meter
calibration. Subsequently, the water flows back to the
sump tank.
A differential pressure transmitter is supplied for the
measurement of pressure drop across either orifice or
venturi meter. The pressure drop value will be used to
calculate the water flow rate. Output signal from
magnetic flow meter is connected to a microprocessorbased controller as its measurement input. Output o
the controller is linked to the pneumatic control valve to
manipulate the water flow rate.
The unit is supplied with a chart recorder. All
instrumentations supplied are of industry standard and
all electrical wires are numbered for identification. The
electrical wirings are laid in flexible PVC conduit. In
addition, all instrument wirings are screened. The pump
has its own starter whereas power cables for the pump
are laid in a separate conduit different from the
instrument cables. The control and patch panel are
safely protected against water splashes.
