Approach,Threshold, Runway Edge and End,Taxiway and Apron Edge Medium or Low Intensity Elevated Light A.03.150e Compliance with Standards ICAO: FAA: NATO: Annex 14, Vol.I, para 5.3.5. for use on a non precision instrument runway and Vol.II for helipad lighting. L-860, L-860E, L-861, L-861E, L-861SE, and L-861T specifications, AC 150/5345-46A. STANAG 3652. Uses - Multipurpose medium intensity omnidirectional light. - Approach, threshold, runway edge and end, taxiway and apron edge light for use on a non-precision instrument runway or on a heliport, depending on the lamp wattage and dome characteristics. Medium Intensity lighting systems At airports not equipped with non-visual precision approach system such as ILS, MLS, PAR,..., a medium or low intensity airfield lighting system is normally specified to ensure the guidance of the aircraft to the airport area or to the approach area wherefrom the pilot will rely on the visual aids to achieve final approach and landing. Direct straight-in approach requires a medium intensity runway and approach lighting having a light intensity in excess of 1000 cd. lndirect circling approach requires omnidirectional lights having a lower light intensity. Catalogue leaflet A.01.420 depicts the equipment required to achieve coherent medium intensity lighting system. Select the most appropriate lamp rating and glassware among the models listed in this leaflet. Features · Optimal resistance to jet blast due to low profile and reduced dimensions. · Watertight without gaskets. Dome sealed in the upper body. · Smooth external dome surface prevents built-up of dirt. Dome is self-cleaning. · Easy relamping without special tools. Upper body/lens assembly removed in 10 sec. No clamping ring nor gaskets to care about. · Accurate and easy levelling thanks to the polyester ball-joint. · No twisting of cables during installation. Frangible stem screws into the mounting device independently from the rest of the light unit. · Low-energy, long life prefocus halogen lamp. · Reduced spares holding thanks to simple construction using a minimum number of functional parts.
