Special Issue:
Microwave components and antennas based
on advanced manufacturing techniques
Emerging Additive Manufacturing, alias Rapid Prototyping and 3D printing techniques are maturing rapidly. In parallel, conventional
subtractive fabrication processes have under gone significant advancements. This allows components, circuits and assemblies to be
designed in novel ways by taking advantage of new geometrical freedoms and often resulting in lower cost and higher integration.
In this Special Issue, state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing techniques for microwave components, antennas and assemblies are
addressed.
Papers qualify for publication if significant innovation is achieved by the use of Additive Manufacturing (alias 3D printing)
or novel advanced subtractive techniques such as (but not limited to):
n Powder bed fusion (e.g. selective laser melting,
electron beam melting)
n Material jetting and extrusion (e.g. inkjet-, aerosol
printing, fused deposition modelling etc.)
n Vat photopolymerisation (e.g. stereolithography)
n Advanced thick and thin-film processes
(e.g. novel LTCC, HTCC, RF PCBs)
n Micro-milling and micro-machining
This Special Issue aims to address the above topics and invites contributions from leading researchers around the world.
All submissions are subject to the journal’s peer-review procedures. The authors should follow the journal’s Author Guide
at http://digital-library.theiet.org/journals/author-guide when preparing papers for submission to the Special Issue.

Open Access Publishing Now Available
In addition to the traditional subscription-funded model, The IET now offers a gold open access publication option in IET Microwaves,
Antennas and Propagation. This allows authors to disseminate their research to a wider audience. Please contact us if you require any
further information.
What is Open Access Publishing?
Open access publishing enables peer reviewed, accepted journal articles to be made freely available online to anyone with access
to the internet. Open access publishing with the IET is funded through author publication charges. This model differs from the
subscription based publishing model, whereby readers (or more commonly, readers’ institutions) pay for access to journal articles.
For more information, contact us on journals@theiet.org.
