Theory : The details are given in the ELE 203 Circuit Theory I course notes. 1. EXPERIMENTAL WORK : 2.1 Set-up the circuit shown in figure.1 a) Connect a voltmeter between a and b, and measure the voltage Vab b) Connect an ammeter between a and b, and measure the current I ab . c) Replace current and voltage sources with the o/c and s/c respectively and then, measure the equivalent resistance between a and b . 2.2 Set up the circuit in figure. 2, and measure the voltage Vab and the current I ab .for Vin = 2V, 4V, 6V, 8V and 10V . 2.3 Set up the circuit in figure. 3. a) Connect current source only, and measure Vab . b) Connect voltage source only, and measure Vab . c) Connect both of the sources at the same time , and measure Vab . 3. RESULTS and CONCLUSION : 3.1 Compare your theoretical and practical Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits and comment on differences. 3.2 By using measured values in step 2.2, sketch Vab vs. Vin , Vab vs. I ab and calculate the slopes. What are the meanings of these slopes? 3.3 By using measured values in step 2.3, prove the superposition principle.
