Statement of Primary Purpose
The program coordinator has primary responsibility for overall planning and operational supervision of the
Office Systems Technology Program at WPCC in achieving the purpose of the program as it relates to the
overall purposes, missions and goals of the institution.
Essential Responsibilities
Administratively, the Coordinator reports to the Department Head, Business & Distance Learning, however, it
is the Coordinator who has the initial responsibility to ensure the viability, currency, and integrity of the
program.
This position is an instructional position and may require a full teaching load in addition to responsibilities as
Program Coordinator.
Essential Duties
1.
Develop and/or recommend curriculum changes.
2.
Serve as a representative and advocate for the OST curriculum.
3.
Originate or approve all material and supply requests.
4.
Originate or approve all equipment requests for the program.
5.
Select, recruit, and evaluate part-time instructors.
6.
Serve as a liaison to all part-time faculty in the OST curriculums. At the request of the Division Dean
discuss part-time faculty members’ performance (evaluation) and contracts.
7.
Make recommendations concerning the semester schedule. This also includes assignments of instructors
for specific courses.
8.
Develop or oversee the development of course documents for the program.
9.
Develop short and long range goals for the continuing improvement of the program.
10.
Make periodic assessments to insure that the curriculum offerings are current and meet the needs of the
community.
11.
Prepare a recommended budget for program equipment, supplies, materials, travel, and other needed
items.
12.
Make textbook and software selections.
13.
Insure that the program has an appropriate advisory committee and meet with the committee at least
once a year.
14.
Oversee program advertisement and recruitment that is not typically handled by student services.
15.
Oversee and certify the annual equipment inventory for OST labs.

Qualifications
Must be a full time instructor in the Office Systems Technology program. No additional qualifications required
beyond those for the instructional position.
