NFL Draft Quotes Greg Lloyd – Philadelphia Eagles 34th Pick of the Seventh Round (237th Pick Overall) What is your reaction to going to Philadelphia and what are your hopes and goals? “The whole situation is insane. I was anxious the entire time, it is definitely the most stressful situation I have ever been in. I was just waiting for my name to be called and waiting to know what I was going to do with my life. To get that call was definitely exhilarating. I can’t compare it to anything. As far as the goals, I plan on going in and doing what I can to help and giving 100% to everything that I am asked to do. I want to be somebody that they can rely on and that they don’t have to question if I can do something or not. I am just excited about the whole situation. It has been a stressful three days, but to get that call it is just great. I have the team that wants me to be with them and I am 100% dedicated to whatever they ask of me. The sky is the limit.” Do you know what position you are going to be playing? “I expect to be playing inside linebacker. I was going to be a defensive end, had I stayed another year, but since I didn’t I am still just an inside linebacker.” Having your dad play in the NFL, does that give you any idea of what to expect with all of this? Or is it just a vastly different game from when he played? “I like to think that it is totally different from when he played just because of the time difference, but in all honesty I haven’t really talked to him since the East-West Shrine Game. We don’t have regular communication with each other. So everything that I am going to experience professionally will be a new experience for me and I look forward to every bit of it.” Four UConn players were drafted, which ties the school record, what does that say about the UConn program and where it is? “We definitely have athletes, we have potential and we have people who are at the top of their game. I think if Kendall Reyes came out this year he would have been in the league. There is so much potential with the group that is there now, including a bunch of the younger guys. Sio Moore will definitely end up in the league some day because he was able to step in as a linebacker and just destroy everything. Mike Ryan and Jesse Joseph are both growing into phenomenal players. UConn has definitely been put on the map. Since my freshman year I have seen everyone evolve as players. I had the opportunity to play with Donald Brown and Donald Thomas and it has just been a pleasure and a privilege to be among them. I keep in contact with the UConn players and I tell them to keep working hard because they have come a long way and the program has come a long way. “ What are your thoughts on the lockout going on now? “I don’t know what the situation is going to be, I don’t know how long it is going to take for everything to get sorted out. All I know is from Monday to whenever the situation is solved I will be doing nothing but working my butt off to be in the best shape possible when everything gets situated. That way nobody will have to ask questions if I am ready or not. I will be in the best shape that I have ever been in. Did the Eagles show any interest in you during the combine? “I actually talked to them at the combine and then I had the opportunity to be worked out by the linebacker coach at UConn and then I got to go on a visit to their facility. I knew that they had interest and I am just happy that they acted on that interest in me.”
