User-friendly VCR-style high-end DVR using MPEG-2 encoding
for highest quality HDD recording, with real-time recording on
each of 16 channels (400 IPS)
Equipped with JVC’s most advanced digital technology, this high performance DVR utilises very high quality MPEG-2 encoding to
record simultaneously to 16 channels (400 Images per Second). Its VCR style of controls makes for easy operation. Designed
especially for applications where long term high quality recording is a must, the VR-716E’s MPEG-2 high resolution digital recording
captures hours and hours of crisp, clear images with superb detail – images you can access instantly at any time on the 4ch or
16ch screen display, even while recording. Added features such as jog & shuttle search and simultaneous playback/recording
make the VR-716E ideal for any security or logging application.
High quality pictures
Versatility
MPEG-2 compression
By using MPEG-2 compression, high quality
pictures can be recorded to a hard disk over a
much longer period than with JPEG
compression. Picture quality can be selected
from 4 levels (High, Normal, Basic, Long).
Triplex operation
Triplex operation means that simultaneously
and in real time the VR-716E is able not only to
record 16 channels of full motion video but also
to provide both live monitoring and playback in
all 16 channels at the same time.
400 IPS real time recording
25 images/sec. can be recorded simultaneously
over 16 channels. Expressed another way, this
capability is referred to as 400 IPS real time
recording. The 400 IPS capability in the record
mode applies equally to the parallel functions of
live monitoring and playback. This is known as
triplex operation.
Timer recording and alarm/sensor
recording
Daily/weekly timer recording as well as
specified date recording is possible for up to
16 programmes. In addition, alarm recording
starts automatically when alarm signals are
received during recording.
Picture resolution
The VR-716E has two levels of resolution
according to the number of channels selected, 4
or 16. Both levels provide a high quality in all
channels. In 4ch operation the picture resolution
is 720 x 576 and in 16ch operation is 360 x 288.

Pre-sensor recording
Pre-sensor recording works hand-in-hand with
automatic sensor recording by tracking back
to the required start point prior to the alarm
signal input. The duration of the pre-sensor
recording is user selectable.

Series recording
Series recording using 2 or more VR-716E
recorders is possible. When the first
VR-716E is full, the next VR-716E
automatically starts recording. When the signal
is sent from the first VR-716E, the clocks of
the other VR-716Es are reset.

Motion detection
The monitor screen is divided into 150 areas
and alarm / sensor recording is automatically
executed on detection of motion within these
areas. 20 pre-set patterns and object sizes
can be selected, according to the location
where the camera is positioned.

User-friendly
VCR-style operation
Operation is very similar to a conventional VCR
and a jog & shuttle dial is provided. Users
familiar with VCR operation will find this
recorder very easy to use.
Various search functions
Various search parameters including date, time,
camera and alarm can be recorded with the
images, giving you maximum flexibility when
playing back a recorded image. You can even
search while recording is in progress. Direct
search allows quick search for the date/time
and alarm position. In addition, any one of three
types of skip search can be specified in the
search menu — “TIME”, “ALARM” and
“EVENT”. Manual search using the jog & shuttle
dial is available at speeds up to ±360x.
High capacity 160 GB built-in Hard Disk
Drives
With twin 80 GB built-in Hard Disk Drives, the
VR-716E has a total internal storage capacity
of 160 GB and is therefore ready to handle
even the most extensive and demanding
surveillance requirements. If even greater
recording capacity is required, up to 4 more
external HDDs of up to 480 GB each can be
added, thus increasing the recording capacity
to a total of 2.08 TB.

In a network environment where a mail server
(SMTP) is available, the VR-716E can be
configured to send out notification messages
containing the alarm list.
Network ready with built-in web server
and bundled software
Recorded images can be viewed on LANconnected computers. Other operations
possible via computer include title setting,
timer programming, and image search. With
the provided software, recorded images can
be played back using a general purpose
browser such as Internet Explorer.
Hard disk mirroring
Mirroring function records the same data
simultaneously on each of the twin built-in hard
disk drives. Data redundancy ensures that
critical system data remains secure, even if
one of the hard disks malfunctions.
