archery hunt September through October, and a gun season hunt October through November, which includes a

Financials: The business averages between 80 and 100 hunters
per year. Hunt prices average about $3800 per person (tags are paid
for separately by hunter on some hunts, but included in the elk &

Licensing: If you are not currently an outfitter in the state of
Montana, the guide license transfer requires a 100 day
apprenticeship and a passing grade on a test. Owner will stay on for
the 100 day apprenticeship. Owner will include going to a trade
show as part of the training. Also, owner will stay on to run the
school & will potentially stay on as long as the buyer needs or wants.
Employees: The owner does all the cooking and cleaning. There
are between 8 and 11 guides hired on, with between 3 and 10 years
of experience.
Guide School: The Montana Guide School program teaches
you how to pack, cook on a Dutch oven, shoe horses, pull pack
strings, learn how to hunt for elk, spot game, and guide hunters
Fishing Trips: Many different types of fishing packages and
types of fishing trips are available.
Horseback Riding: Livestock is leased and is available for all
abilities. The business has access to many Forest Service trails.
Current cost is about $30 per hour per person.
Camping Trips: The business offers camping trips for all
different group sizes and provides everything needed. Prices vary.
Hiking: There are an abundance of Forest Service hiking trails
through the mountains of the Kootenai National Forest. Prices vary.
Vacations: The business currently offers family or group
vacations which include horseback riding, camping, hiking, sight
seeing, fishing, boat riding, & water sports. Prices & packages vary.
HUNTING
Elk & Deer Combo: Bow, rifle, black powder, hand gun, 7 day
hunt. September 2—October 14 bow, October 21—November 25
rifle. Current cost is $4500 for one guide per hunter or $4000 for
one guide per two hunters for rifle. Current cost is $4000 for one
guide per hunter or $3700 for one guide per two hunters for bow.
They also offer a furnish your own archery drop camp for $2000 per
hunter.
Bear: Bow, handgun, black powder, rifle, 7 day hunt. April 15—
May 15 or September 15—November 29. Current cost is $3500 for
one guide per hunter or $3000 for one guide per two hunters.
Grouse: Shotgun, black powder, bow, rifle. Different packages
available. Current cost is $200 per day (based on staying at lodge)
Mountain Lion: Hunts are on a lottery. Prices vary.
Moose/Goat/Sheep: Hunts are on a lottery. Prices vary.
