3 Product Bulletin/Technical Data Sheet Release A, Effective December, 2011 Specular Film on Metal Product Description 3M™ Specular Film on Metal (the "Film" or “Product”) is a polymeric film laminated on either an aluminum or a steel substrate for use in tubular passive daylighting applications in residential and commercial buildings. Recommended End Uses The Product is intended to be used as the primary reflecting duct material in tubular solar daylighting applications ("TDD"). Key Attributes Available in both aluminum and galvanized steel in various gauges All polymeric construction insensitive to humidity degradation. Highest visible reflectivity, including high incidence angles, and color retention available commercially. Product Characteristics Below are typical values for the Product. These are based on test data deemed reliable, but are not warranted, except for the Warranted Characteristics identified on Page 5. Please note that you will need to determine the suitability and long‐term durability of the UV protection material you chose for your TDD. Handling & Fabrication • Perform all rolling, cutting, assembly, and installation with the Film's protective liner intact. Remove the protective liner only after TDD is secured to building frame and is no longer Technical Data Sheet, Specular Film on Metal ‐ 4 3M 1038876v4 exposed to dust, debris, water, or physical contact. • Film rolls are heavy; so use lifting equipment when handling them. • TDD Forming Application Temperature must be a mininum of 72°F (22°C). Cleaning Do not attempt to dust or clean the Film once the protective liner is removed. Recommended Storage Conditions Warranted Characteristics Film should be stored for no more than a year in original container, out of sunlight, and in a clean, dry area that is between 40° to 100°F (4° to 38°C).
